While the Pioneer is "brighter", the Rockford has much more midrange output. If I was looking for a midrange speaker I would go with the Rockford. The frequencies above 4000hz are not that important for a mid-range driver, because they were designed to have the tweeter take over from there on. While I love the fact that you take the time and money to do these comparison tests for us, I think these speakers should be judged based on what they were designed to do. It would be helpful if you could also let us know which ones are louder in the midrange, midbass, and overall frequencies that they were designed to play in. After watching most your videos, it seems that you are looking for a driver with the widest frequency range, and the best sound quality, while still being the loudest. We all are! Keep the videos coming, and I'll be watching.

hello mate need help, rockford t2 13 ”2000 rms subwoofer. In addition to this I will get a 16 ”migrange in a set of 13”. what do you think i should buy I was unstable with the Rockford Fosgate PPS4-6 Punch Pro 6.5 "and DS18 PRO-FR6NEO. Rockford does not have 13" but there is ds 13 ". I think to buy rockford as 16" and ds as 13 ".

Came to make sure I wasn’t the only one who was being gaslit. That Rockford sure kept up for having half the frequency range.. Can’t tell bass through a mic really so I’ll let that one slide but literally everything sounds clearer through the RF… played through my home theater.

I’m having a hard time understanding your analysis between the RF vs Pioneer Mids. I’m new to your channel and I’m curious if you are using the Mids at the same HPF and LPF cross over settings ? If you are, then you are comparing them apples to apples then I will apologize. But, If you are not, then it’s apples to oranges because both have different frequency responses. Pioneer has a very wide range that goes from 50hz to 18000hz that means that it will cover a range down into what a sub performs at and it’s high is way into the bright sound of a tweeters range. This speaker is just short of a full range coaxial speaker. The RF Is a true mid and it’s response frequency is 85hz to 5000hz. Obviously most true sub hpf crossovers are set to 80-100hz to match the RF at 85hz and most tweeter lpf crossovers are set to a 2500-5000hz hpf. That allows the RF’s to handle mid frequencies they are responsible for in almost ALL component setups. Both Mids are over 90db sensitivity, which is excellent and they both are very close in RMS RATINGS at 110-100. Cost obviously goes to pioneer. The Pioneers are a perfect example of a speaker wanting to be a component speaker, but also be a full range. Products that try to do more for less and be successful can be pretty hard to find. RF specifically states the the PPS 4 is used in a system that has Lows and HI’s in place so the RF’s PPS4 can fill the void with warm CLEAR audio for the sound stage. They also come with spring loaded terminals and the cone isn’t “ made of plastic”. They are made of fiber reinforced paper and the W-style surround is treated cloth. After a costly mistake of purchasing 4 of the Pioneers that had no identity. I spent the money and bought 4 real MIDS. The RF’s are Clean and powerful AS F**k

I agree. Great analysis. Also, he doesn't tell us the crossovers, doesn't mention at least some specs--sens., Ohms, RMS, no spectral analysis, etc. He doesn't tell us how much power is "A lot of juice." However, he does comparisons that are useful, obviously with limitations. I believe the Pioneer is good, but I agree also that the RF is specific-built, which is what I need.

I have all pioneer and eclipse speakers in my daily truck. I also chose to try out the NVX V series speakers in my work truck. I haven't powered the system yet so no testimony on sound. The NVX has a nice build quality and I expect decent sound. Update:For the price of the NVX V series they are a bargain. I am using an old school Eclipse 4 channel amp and a Pioneer HU so I know my signals are clean but these speakers sound as good as my Pioneer components in my daily.

Maybe u overpowered it?? ... It's a tie for me A very efficient speaker moves less than a less efficient speaker. If it were 100% efficient, which is not possible, the speaker wouldn't move at all.

Hey brother let me give you some tip. Listen very carefully be sensitive. What makes a midrange more accuracy? Listen it is not about louder. The one you pick there an alien frequency makes sharp. Rockford it all about mid! When we put some high frequency it will never be a good sound promise. It so sharp and rough. Try to put to rockford now you learn.

So I’ll go with Rockford but I’m buying it for what it’s meant to do. Will your next video be comparing it to a the pps4-6 to a sundown woofer to see which has better bass or a tweeter for highs? I was mistaken when I thought this video would be good because you have a good camera and a nice microphone. Unfortunately your uneducated comparison was all that really matters and this video is just a waste of time. Feels like the whole point of this video was to hate on a speaker and/or the brand.

This test is terrible. Why are you testing midrange speakers at full range and comparing how they sound alone. Hook them up to other components and then compare. PPS rockford fosgate speaker is not meant to get bass or highs. I band pass 100-4000hz and it sounds great in the range it’s meant for. Test makes no sense

Can a midrange run well in a car door.. or does it need to be a in a box? My problem is 6 speaker system mounted in stock locations of car- sony head unit, 400w 4channel amp, kenwood 3in dash, kicker 6.5 3way in doors, and JBL 2 way 6.5 in rear, all rated 100watts or better = no bass, virtually no mid texture quality , it is essentially ALL Highs no matter how eq is adjusted. Cant use even 1/2 the ability of amp hardly. IT sucks. The only speaker I am impressed with was the kenwood 3inch which was cheapest for set. .. and seem to be only speakers handling input well. The JBL 62cf is turning out to be the absolute worst... and I am not really sure why.. or what is going on.

Holy shit I bought the Fosgate P1675-S component speakers and they have that harsh frequency when I dont crank them. I thought it was my head unit causing it or something but now I see it's just the way they build their speakers. Ive spent hrs trying to fix that harshness between crossovers, eqing, thinking I have the gains set wrong, changing to thicker speaker wire and even the RCA's from my head unit to my amp. Rockford in general sounds so much better at higher volumes than lower volumes. Thats when they seem to shine.

These types of speakers will not do well with the amp. You will be better off with a lower watt higher sensitivity speaker. Crutchfield has a Hertz k series or the Kenwood KFC series or Pioneer D series.

No, Midrange drivers are designed to provide strong output down to about 200hz. Midbass drivers are designed to provide strong output down to about 60hz. For the best possible output, they should be used in conjunction with each other, along with a tweeter. Not all Midrange or Midbass drivers frequency ranges are the same, so check the manufacturers specs.
