Nice move, Pioneer. I am ordering one today. Planning to setup this on my subcompact EV this weekend.

Does it need to couple to the floor to work? Or can the speaker face outward toward the listener? I would like to install this in a motorcycle fairing. What is the maximum SPL?
@pioneerelectronics Жыл бұрын
This product is designed for best operation with the speaker facing the floor or wall of the vehicle. Please note, the Pioneer TS-WX010A is really small, and has only a ~4x6 speaker in it. You can see it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpDdkImva5t9rLs Don't expect a ton of bass from this product. If your motorcycle is designed to be loud, for example most Harley's or similar sounding knock off's, you may not be able to hear this product at all. If your bike is a much quieter, luxury touring type, it may work out OK. The speaker is designed to be installed high up in the footwell of the passenger side of a vehicle in order to use the footwell as a port to focus the sound. You can see it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpDdkImva5t9rLs I can image a motorcycle faring with an upward facing port that may work reasonably well given it's very small size and power consumption. However, please note this product is not designed to be used on a motor cycle, and it's not designed to be water resistant in any way. @@pioneerelectronics Yes it is for a Goldwing. The GL1800 puts out nothing below 300Hz. 4 1/2 speakers in a tiny compartment. Its very sad. Anyway, I didn't know if this was designed as a compression driver, or if it is just designed to couple to the floor as a barrier. The Goldwing has very little useable space anywhere. I was hoping to mount it up front down inside - yes it would be protected from the weather. If the efficiency is really 98 db 1w/1m, it should be able to hit 116 db peak assuming the 50 watt amp really means 50 watts, and not the typical exaggeration of car stereo amplifiers. I don't expect much below 100Hz out of this, but even some implied bass would be great.
@pioneerelectronics Жыл бұрын
@@Daveinet If you can find the space for it, I think it will work well enough, given the product's known limitations. Nominal output power from the amplifier measured to the internal speaker of TS-WX010A is 50 watts, with a 14.4 V DC input measured at 80Hz with 1% THD. If it's helpful you can download the owner's manual for the Pioneer TS-WX010A here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/Subwoofers/Powered+Subwoofer/TS-WX010A#manuals

@@pioneerelectronics OK, so it is a real 50 watts. That's cool. Thanks for the link to the manuals. If I can make this work, there will likely be a lot of other interested parties. Everyone complains about the Goldwing stereo and lack of low end. Worst case I can mount it inside the rear trunk and vent it below the back rest. But that location may not be close enough to be loud enough at speed. I'm going to try for a spot in the front first. Thanks
@Daveinet Жыл бұрын
So I've not installed it, but I have tested it. It pretty much does what I hoped - makes the stereo sound normal. I've got a nice spot inside the fairing to mount it. The hardest part will be to keep the plastic on the fairing from rattling. Seems like SPL wise, it is a pretty good match for the factory stereo. Nothing earthshaking of course, but fills out what is missing from the factory stereo.

Hello. Does it need to be connected directly to the car battery or any 12v connection from inside the car is okay?
@pioneerelectronics2 жыл бұрын
This will depend upon your particular vehicle, however, generally speaking, the yellow wire does not need to be connected to the vehicle's battery. The maximum current draw for this product is only 4.2 amps. In most modern vehicles, there are usually several available circuits with constant 12 volt power will work well. The subwoofer's Blue wire will need to be connected to the in-dash receiver or to a switched circuit that turns the power on and off with the vehicle. Hello, I have an off topic question. I had a FH-X720BT professionally installed in my Suburban in 2016. Today I was having an issue with the auto connect to my Android phone, through which I use Pandora, I have had issues with the phone connecting throughout, but today the screen was flashing "Connecting" for an extended period of time. So I shut the truck off to disconnect and try again and the Radio went dead. No lights, nothing, but the USB was still powered. So I dont think it is a fuse, unless there is an internal fuse. So it seems I will need to replace the radio, Will other FX models fit in the same installation dash kit, and will the harness be the same? Should I reroute the new mic, for sound quality? I am disappointed in how short the radio's lifespan was, but not sure what happened as far as blame goes. Thank you in advance, Aaron.

This is not normal operation for the receiver. I recommend to disconnect the vehicle's battery negative terminal for a few minutes, and reconnect the battery to see if this will reset the receiver. If this works great. Please be sure to install the latest firmware for the FH-X720BT. You can find it here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/CD-Receivers/FH-X720BT#downloads If this does not reset the receiver, the Pioneer FH-X720BT was produced back in 2014-2015 and it may require service. You can contact Pioneer Customer Service on line in the US here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Support or by phone in the US 1-800-421-1404. If you are planning to install a new receiver, I recommend to use the wire harness and microphone that comes with the new receiver. If you choose a product with similar functions, size, CD, etc... the existing installation kit should work just fine.

🤔🤔 I didn't know there were subs for hybrid cars. I need to learn more about this. I have a small mild hybrid car and I was about to buy a regular underseat sub. Now I'm concerned
@pioneerelectronics2 жыл бұрын
The Pioneer TS-WX010A is designed for small EV and hybrid vehicles where battery life between charges is a great concern. The max current consumption is just 4.2 amps. This is a tiny subwoofer that can add a little bass into the audio system in this type of small vehicle. It should be installed in the passenger footwell. Hello Pioneer electronics: Why is this device not suitable for Petrol/Diesel vehicles please? Thanks
@pioneerelectronics3 жыл бұрын
The Pioneer TS-WX010A is designed for small electric vehicles that have no room under the seats for a subwoofer because the electric vehicle's batteries take up that space. The Pioneer TS-WX010A can work in petrol/diesel vehicles however, there may be better options for a petrol/diesel vehicle. If electricity consumption, and weight is not a concern and it will fit under the seat, please consider the Pioneer TS-WX130DA seen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3XCp3uYidB7q7c or the Pioneer TS-WH500A seen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIDcd4OFiZWhf5Y or if you have more room in the vehicle, the Pioneer TS-WX1220AH seen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHfFaoSmqZ6CmNE You can find more videos about Pioneer subwoofers here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3Oyiquuq56fa80 and you can find more videos on Pioneer's KZbin Channel here: kzbin.info

@Michael Schneider .. I'll try this "powered mini-woofer" in older Porsche 911 Carrera's whose small interior room is at a premium. .. The 1970's Super Beetle mite be another application.

How long is the wiring harness?
@pioneerelectronics3 жыл бұрын
The Yellow wire and Blue wire are approximately 8 feet or 2.5 meters. The black wire is shorter, about 3.5 feet or 1 meter. The RCA connections on the wire harness are about 6 inches or 15 cm. You can extend the wires if needed, and if you want to use an RCA connection from the receiver to the TS-WX010A you'll need RCA extension cables.
