I can’t believe that I got one of this for free in a yard sale. I’m using it as a Stereo receiver with a pair of TSi 200. Sound good!💨

Yes it should, if it doesn't have a dedicated subwoofer out ("sub func out"), you can use the front pre-amp out/power in loop with a y-connector in place of the jumpers to double the left and right pre outs one each off to the sub and then back into the receiver. Set the low pass setting on the sub to around 80 Hz to keep the higher frequencies out. Otherwise, route the speak er cables to the sub (if it has such inputs) and connect the fronts off the sub.

bought the same receiver new back in like 90 or 91ish..cant remember..thing was a beast.

mikieson I bet it costed a pretty penny too! They're still great units that hold their own in 2018. I currently use a vsx d1s, which is like the bigger cousin to the 9700s

mine had a remote, yes. I have several "leraning" remotes that are similar for these reveivers. I made this video for an eBay auction a couple years ago. I sold this model and bought the vsx-d1s

I wish mined worked flawlessly...After about a minute, it makes a loud pop and goes out. The bar graph still shows it working, but no sound... I had that CD player back in the day as well. Well at least the one that took one cartridge, but I can't remember....

Hello, Could you make a video of all components of your stereo audio system set? and What is the correct plug in of each other?

One of the nicer receivers from that era. I'd love to see it with the top cover removed, see what size the filter caps are.

That would be a great video. I've thought about picking up one of them. I want to get my Realistic Sta 2100D that's been in my family since 1981 when it was new recapped and complete the restoration first.

Need Help I have VSX-7500S that accepts Power but shows nothing on display. Any idea if this is worth fixing? I have been lugging this unit since 1989 when I was still serving in the Navy. I bought this unit in Okinawa Japan. Any advise on how repair would be great. I could not find any videos for the 7500 S models. Thanks

Pioneer VSX 9700S Audio Video Surround Sound Receiver. This was a very good and powerful Receiver. I think the power consumption of this Receiver is around 900 Watts which is very high. This Receiver runs very hot when in use, so the ventilation ports on top of the Receiver must not be restricted by placing objects on it. I see here that you have placed all the other components like the Graphic Equaliser, CD Player etc. on top of this Receiver. That is bad for proper ventilation. Also those other components placed right above it will get unnecessarily hot. The Owner's Manual recommend the users to keep at least 10 - 15 c.m. of free space above the Receiver for good ventilation. So please remove all other components which are above this Receiver and keep them next to it. Thanks for the video! Sorry about the late comment.

I sold this receiver almost 10 years ago. This video was to demonstrate it when posting to eBay. While I appreciate the concern and the odd request of removing the components for you, I've since purchased a VSX-D1S, (the following week actually) so I've had that for about 10 years. It sits by itself with no components besides the GR-777, and that is consciously placed above it leaving a generous amount of space between for that beast to breathe. Rest assured. I feel like if you felt compelled to comment on a 10 year old video, I guess I felt equally compelled to respond.
@janath9118 Жыл бұрын
@@GeoffJaymes I noted that you had sold the Pioneer VSX 9700S Receiver about 10 years ago, and bought another model VSX D1 which is even more powerful, I suppose. I also used the same model Receiver for several years about 14 years ago. Later I used the VSX D 811S which is a Dts Receiver. Now I am using a Yamaha RX V1400. My intention of requesting you to remove other components placed right above this Receiver is non other but to give some caution about any danger of other components getting unnecessarily hot. It's not odd but a little humble advice about safety. Again I am sorry about my comment made too late.

Hi, nice test video. I want to know What is the equalizer model above and How to connect to receiver?
@GeoffJaymes10 жыл бұрын
That EQ is a Pioneer GR-777. It is hooked up through the "tape monitor" ins and outs on the receiver. Thats the only way to properly hook up a graphic eq to a receiver.
@TheLecha10 жыл бұрын
Geoff Szilagyi Hi Geoff, I am confused here. I have the same VSX-97000S Receiver and finally got a hold of a GR-777 equalizer. I also have a Pioneer multi-CD player and a Pioneer multi-cassette player. You say "It is hooked up through the "tape monitor" ins and outs on the receiver". I do not see any "tape monitor" on the VSX-9700S receiver, I see TAPE 1 /DAT Rec Play and TAPE 2 Rec Play. On the GR-777 I see EQUALIZER Input (Rec) Output (Play) and Tape 2 (Rec) (Play). Should I use the tape 2 as the "Tape monitor" you mention? Thanks
@GeoffJaymes10 жыл бұрын
Yes. I apologize. Starting with gr 777. Run your cables from "equalizer rec" to 9700s "tape 2 rec" . Then on gr 777, run from "equalizer play" to 9700s "tape 2 play" . Now to also make your cassette deck usuable, run cable from tape decks "rec input" to gr 777 "tape rec" , and finally, from tape decks "play output" to gr 777 "tape play". Last most important thing, is make sure "tape 2 monitor" is ALWAYS enabled on the 9700s, regardless of input function. And to hear cassette deck, select "tape monitor" button on gr 777. Hope this helps. Pioneer forever!

Geoff Szilagyi I got you, I'll do as you say and give it a try. You are right, this receiver is a beast. I have a set of speakers Pioneer CS-G304 on the A chanel, a set of CS-G911 on the B chanel and a set of CS-R571 on the rear, no center though, but it sound marvelous, you can go loud until the roof is blown without any distortion. I had been looking for this equalizer for a while to complete my dream equipment. Finally I got it and I'm a very happy camper now. Yeahh, Pioneer for ever!!!! Thanks for your help.

hey man, this receiver IS A BEAST. I saw this at a pawn shop for 120. There's only one thing I don't understand, why is the radio station always on? No matter if you're on phono or what? It always on? Why
@deekay27 жыл бұрын
dogpetdog I hate that when the radio frequency display stays on even when you switch to CD, tape, phono, or anything else. A lot of other brands and models do that also.
