Awesome video. You might also have worked this out but a quicker way to swap between decks is to double tap the SHIFT key. No need to use the Short Cut key.

you can midi map a sampler cue button in midi mapping, so it will come through headphones. its better to be on a seperate channel however, as you can use colour FX and EQ for that channel and the fader/ etc. and Gain

i know your feelings well, im happy with my xz too, now im waiting for my djs-1000 and toraiz as-1 to ship for maximum experiment with music. xz was the right choice and i think its the best invest a serious dj could get. despite the other choices such as denon.

Can you also use the pads on the xz to play in your samples? and are there buttons on the xz that you can use or assign to. record you sample sequence? Have you ever tried using your roll fx as a sampler? that way you don't need to use rekord box. So let say you would load a single shot sample. like a snare. put it in a deck. put a cue point on it. then active your roll fx play a drum pattern. and then move the roll fx to channel 4. You can do that. Roll fx is like a sampler recording. once it is playing you can that recording to another channel. because you are basically moving the effect to another channel. leaving your original deck free to load another song. . only downside is. YOu need to leave your Roll Fx in either deck 3 or 4. IN order to be able to play your recorded sample loop. because obviously if you move the playing roll fx to channel 1 the roll fx is now applied to channel 1

Any pros that can aid me? I got toraiz sp-16 that i wanna use as sampler. Looks like a little djs1000. Got network. Midi, usb 8 send return. Can I link it to my xdj-xz with Network cabel.. Or do I need to do like him, and usb connect to my PC put channel 4 as volume. And Jack Jack phono connect to that channel? Regards

Nice video man. I've never sampled anything before on my channel (I play progressive house) but more and more since moving from DDJ-1000 to XZ I've had this urge to just... try it out. I forgot about the Shift-Beat Jump shortcut to the sampler which answers one question, now I just want to learn how to actually do the rest of it. I'm not producing yet so my knowledge is limited. All that's in my head is to take a loop out of a track and convert it to a sample but it sounds like what you're doing is using raw individual elements there and making something unique?

I personally have a big collection of one shots which is what I used here, but you can easily capture tiny snippets from track you have and do something similar. no rules: if you use wave files you can record grooves of few beats, pads and synth lines: save them and then play them with using all 4 decks plus other loops and FX and end up with even more layers... the fun part is the experimenting until you create something new.

YES you can and volume can be controlled by two ways: The trim dial or by setting one of the 4 Ch in the mixer to sampler

Hey there, nice vid and good vibes brother. I own an xdj xz, formerly had ddj 1000 as well. I found the same solution as you did the channel 4 trick. Did you find a mechanichal way to switch the different slots storing the samples? Moreover the volume is much lower on the ch4 this way. I was thinking to get the djs 1000 to stay standalone ready! What are your thoughts on this? We have also BM passion in common, i recently started participating in organizing a camp for crème brûlée with French Burners, my ultimate goal is to participate and share love through my music. I actually like this solution so sticking with it and if a given Sample volume is low I usually raise the gain in the sample edit, i'm thinking about getting extras CDJ's too (if that is what you mean) come visit our camp" Dusty delight" we have an ARTcar based on Ice cream truck so come to one of our ice cream parties...

Hey mate my xz is on the way along with an korg kaoss pad s2. Can I use one of the channels for this korg kaoss effects sampler like you did on my xz? How did you connect it?

I actually moved to the V10 mixer with CDJ’s a while ago but: I think you should be able to if you dedicate a CH for it then plug it in with RCA and midi lock trough whatever the Korg supports: either USB (to rekordbox box?) or Ethernet using pro DJ link
