Pioneer XDJ XZ vs Denon DJ Prime 4

I will go over some of the features of the Pioneer XDJ-XZ and the Denon DJ Prime 4 to help you make a decision on what is best for you

I’ve owned both. For me the Denon is more user friendly and the extra screen real estate makes it easier to navigate / check what’s going on on the fly whereas the screen on the pioneer and tech fees like it’s windows 2000 powered . Internal SSD upgrade on the Denon also nice - as is the ability to stream tidal / Beatport over wifi without the need for a laptop plugged in. Denon loop controller is more intuitive. Pioneer FX and knob feel have the edge. Ability to control lights and Phillips hue is something you will want to play with on the Denon, great feature. If you’re a home/ party / wedding DJ I’d go Denon. If you plan on doing clubs / club standard is important for you go pioneer.

You missed a couple of things on the Denon: - It has a SD slot + SSD/HDD bay underneath - Dedicated beatjump buttons (better than pads) - 3-band EQ on Mic 1 (you forgot that again) - Screen has glas, multitouch and 60fps vs 20 - Zone Output - Key Shift and Key Sync (!!) - Can read RB, Serato and Traktor libraries - Way more utility settings - Still gets new updates and features

Jumping onto Denon after being used to pioneer, is like jumping onto Technics turntables after being used to clunky belt drive decks. The first time it may seem impossible to use the touch capacitive jogwheels, but once you get used to the better precision and sound quality of the unit, you do not want to go back to anything else.

Good comparison. :) I never really considered the Prime 4 as in the shop I did like the SC5000 look and feel but the Prime4 Jog Wheels is not only much smaller but also feels completely different. The XDJ XZ is basically a 2xCDJ2000NXS2 + DJM900 NXS2 setup with only one (bad) display instead of two. If the Prime4 would have been a 2x SC5000 + X1800 I would probably have bought that box. But as the Effects on P4 work completely different than on X1800 as well as the missing extra filter knob at the channels I didn't find this much attractive. Now I have XDJ XZ and two SC5000 on CH 3+4 :D Not the best combination I must say. Usually I only use the XZ. Technology is of course much better at Denon. Even the (old) SC5000 displays look crystal clear and run absolutely smooth (don't ask about the XZ in comparison...). On the other hand the pads on the XZ work much better than on the SC5000. Hard to describe but SC5000 works more as a "button" so it activates when you press it down a certain way. The XZ pads work like pads on a drum machine. The moment you touch them it triggers which I like much more especially if quantize is off and triggering fast.

I heard you mention that if we connect turntables to channels 3 and 4 we can record our vinyl records to the USB with the prime 4, is that not possible on the XZ?

I haven't played on the XZ but I have played on a DDJ1000-SRT with the same jogs and I own a Prime 4. The Pioneer Mechanical jogs are incredible can't beat them with a capacitive jog.

Fx don't work on line inputs 3 and 4. Haven't really tried on internal 3 and 4.

You can't use fx on any inputs at all. Only internal can do fx

To me this is always POINTLESS to compare these when we all know PIONEER IS KING when it comes to CLUBS. You go with what all clubs and top DJs use otherwise what's the point?
