Pioneer Dj XDJ-XZ vs Denon DJ Prime 4 - Key Features

I'm a mobile dj using Virtual Dj and the Prime 4, and as said, that's a brilliant combination. I sometimes play on Pioneer gear as well, but I always miss my Prime 4 when I do. The only downside is already mentioned as well: to go from Virtual Dj control to stand alone, the player has to restart which takes about 20 seconds.

@@burtmachine я бы сказал в точност наоборот pioneer отличное оборудование (проверено криворукими диджеями) но плохой софт, а denon не лучшее железо, но в плане софта и звучания, лучше pioneer.

I'm a Team Denon guy...SC5KMs, LC6Ks, X1850 & a Prime GO but when it came to the P4, sold it after 3 months. Bells n whistles are nice but build quality felt too Numark'ish. Makes for a good mobile DJ rig but I doubt the P4 would fair well in a booth at a bar or lounge with multiple DJs hammering on it. XZ on the other hand would be perfect for that environment. They just have 2 different target consumers

are you still on the 1850? i just ordered a full denon flagship setup but everyone on the denon fb group is telling me i’m gonna eat shit with that mixer and to get something else. what’s your experience been?

@@above-us-only-sky I am still using it. I have zero complaints. Half those folks in the Denon Official FB group are a bunch of trolls and have zero experience with an 1850. I think I saw your posts...Dustin Kirkendall?

Yes. Use a channel. Use Abelton link. Use headphone output to mpc input so you can cue a channel and sample live while playing other track out.

Thanks for the video. I have the XZ and love it. I’ll admit it, if Denon was the industry standard and not Pioneer I would of got the Denon. Pioneer has dominated for years and there is no denying their rigs are durable and respected. But I am a label/brand snob so I went with Pioneer out the gate. I’m confused on the whole 2 channel vs 4. Say with the Denon, you can use any channel at anytime. But with Pioneer your only limited to channels 1 and 2. In order to use 3 or 4 you need external help. Why does that even matter if your only a 2 channel DJ? Say you would like to use a vocal only as well as two songs. On the Denon would you still need external help with a CDJ to play it?

I was in the same boat as you. Had to go with the XZ to get into the Pioneer/Rekordbox ecosystem after a 12 year DJ’ing hiatus. Connection to turntables is *almost* a must for me and when I heard the XZ phono pre-amps were solid, it was an easy choice. The Prime 4 overall just isn’t meant for turntables from what I heard in this video. Perhaps it’s ok, but for me ok isn’t good enough. As I have the Prime Go as well, can’t deny the new tech Denon provides is above par compared to Pioneer. But overall, if someone wants that classic Pioneer feel, the XZ is the right choice. If someone wants extra bells & whistles/new tech/nicer screen, the Prime 4 would be the right choice.

Industry standard was only for the CDJ platform. There is no industry standard for standalone controllers. The Denon Prime 4 is rich in features, the Pioneer XDJ-XZ has large jog wheels and a slightly better mixer.

The xz being able to plug external as a controller wothout stopping the mix is huge. It makes the xz the daddy sustem vs prime 4 for 1 guy

Denon is much better in build quality and much more powerful the pioneer is slower because denon has the more powerful system under the hood you could go on for ages about its pro and I suppose cons the fact it’s not industry standard but it’s the music that matters

Play hard? Lol. Maybe you are one of this flick and twist DJs and think the cue button is an MPC pad. Even Happy Hardcore DJs don't abuse their gear.
