I got confused with trying to update my American AVIC-6100NEX. If only Pioneer learned the difference between a 'file' and a 'folder', both the instructions on the Pioneer website and in these videos would be much more helpful. I'm an IT professional and could imagine things going wrong for the misinformed. 'The file must be in the root' is confusing when you're dealing with a zip that contains a folder full of files, one would assume that all the files should be in the root.

Donald Black I tried having the root folder, unzipped from what was downloaded, as the folder I pasted onto a SD card. But it still gives me that error. What am I doing wrong?

1 is for Apple, 2 is for android isnt it, i too wouldn't know which to use. Pitty we cant just plug the phone in and do it manually through the phone.

@@philipwatts9033 little hole in front of unit that put pin into like you do when getting sim out of a phone. This does a reboot. Then make sure the green parking brake wire is touching part of chassis. I phoned pioneer support who suggested it and worked. Im useless tech but managed this. I was frustrated for several weeks. I even attached parking wire to handbrake and still wouldnt work. Just needed the reset through pin hole after all that

Im having a problem with my head unit avh-x8650bt, the usb doesnt resume the song which im playing whenever car is restarted and it starts from one song always and I change the color scheme wallpaper etc but whenever car is started again everything is reset . Juan Pablo Rosales, actualicé el firmware hace un mes o quizás un poco más y puedo dar fe empírica que funciona. No tiene ningún inconveniente. Le escribí reiteradamente a Pioneer Australia pero ellos insisten que no es recomendable. Nunca entendieron que el modelo que comercializan para su mercado es exactamente el mismo que para Latinoamérica. (Chile, en mi caso). Ahora hay que esperar que actualicen su versión de 1.06 a 1.08 para resolver por ejemplo, el problema del volumen de Siri. Suena algo bajo y no es posible aumentar su volumen. No es grave en todo caso. Otro punto negativo, no funciona adecuadamente el turn by turn de maps. Muestra las direcciones pero no ejecuta los giros. Como anécdota les puedo decir que cuando estaba instalando el firmware, me di cuenta que la carpeta que contiene la actualización dice avic-5000nex. Equiparan dicho modelo al nuestro?....no lo sé. No me atrevo a actualizar utilizando el fichero americano de ese modelo para obtener la versión 1.08. De todas formas, la versión 1.06 funciona "casi" perfecto. Saludos

Nunca imaginé que desaparecería Pioneer Australia. Una pésima noticia. Lo siento por no poder ayudarte. Para los futuros compradores de sistemas, sólo compren productos que estén disponibles en ee.uu. Eso les proporcionará seguridad que dispondrán de los últimos firmwares disponibles. Mi sistema avh-x8650bt funciona muy bien pero, me arrepiento de no haber comprado un producto destinado al mercado americano (como la serie NEX) que disponen de actualizaciones periódicas. La serie AVH-x8650bt no es mala pero como se vende para los mercados europeos y latinoamericano nunca le dieron el soporte necesario. Saludos y suerte en tu búsqueda.

Yo, al igual que Francisco Javier Guerra, cargue el firmware de australia en mi Pioneer AVH-X8650BT y me funciona igual que a él, es decir, casi todo. Por ejemplo si usas Google Maps para navegar, describe las rutas pero al iniciar una el sistema se cae, es decir, no te guía aun cuando puedes visualizarla en pantalla. Todo lo demás me funciona bastante bien. Si lo estimas conveniente, puedo enviarte ese firmware por mail pero recuerda que es a tu cuenta riesgo, como digo, a mi me funcionó y yo tengo esa radio hace más de un año y lo hice correindo el riesgo de que si no actualizaba, era un pisapapeles por casi 1.000 dólares que es lo que me costo acá en ese momento (en Chile). Espero tu respuesta.

Thanks for contacting us. As you have a "NEX" unit I would suggest contacting the team at Pioneer North America for assistance. The firmware used for Pioneer Australia models is different so is not applicable to your model.

Hi again, In the countries where Apple CarPlay is available on select Pioneer car units, a firmware update has already been released on the local Pioneer website. We (Pioneer Australia) released the firmware update the same time Pioneer Europe and USA released theirs.

works good for you. I was installing an update on my 8550bt. power cut out after 20minutes, it rebooted with no settings menus, then wouldn't turn off with the car, I pressed the reset button on the front and the unit died. I can't even turn it on now

Dre Tucker The Pioneer models three years later like the AVIC8400NEX have an SD card port next to the dvd/cd player where one can update firmware - not sure if yours has one too... Take care!

it's because the installer grounded the parking break detection wire to circumvent the wiring for actual parking break. pioneer now has kind of pulse detection for parking break detection & because parking wire connected to head unit is grounded, device thinks you are still in the move and disables firmware upgrade. there is small chip/electronic part that can mimic parking break on these new pioneer head units (have to buy separately from ebay or amazon). You can (or the installer can) always properly connect parking break detection wire to parking break.

Hola , soy de Chile. sigo tu canal de KZbin, y me gustaría saber si me puedes ayudar, a continuación te explico el problema.... Tengo una Pioneer AVH-XL5750BT, tengo problemas con el Bluetooth, a veces, y muy pocas veces logra parearse al celular, o que aparezca la opción de parearla, he estado leyendo en google, y el manual de diag de problemas, habla de que el software del BT debiera ser A895, pero mi unidad indica A890, no he encontrado donde bajar la actualización. bajé un archivo de actualización de firmware del sistema, es el PEH440H.AVH, pero al tratar de actualizar siguiendo todas instrucciones,(las que ya había hecho en una AVH-X2750BT, y todo bien), me dice que no lo puede leer. lo otro extraño, que a pesar de colocar el pendrive solo con ese archivo, es decir, absolutamente limpio, al sacarlo de la radio y verlo en el PC, ahora aparece con otro archivo, una carpeta de DATA. de hecho la radio, aún no la instalo, solo la he probado conectada a una fuente de poder de 14.5 VDC estable, asi que ese no es el problema..... ojalá me puedas ayudar gxs

I can safely report that the Australian firmware for avh - x8650bt (dvd region 4), works perfectly with products sold in Latin America market. It's completely safe and works just fine. Regards from Chile

Hi , if you want to update , use SD card which belong to Pioneer. Because the rest card format is different and pioneer lock them then you cant use... You can do all step what he says but also check below steps which i tell 1. Try to remove SD card lock unlock several time from side. 2. Connect dvd correctly on top. if any of hardware disconnected update will fail. 3. Update via usb stick . ( format with fat32. Not quick the one which is 15 min , check box the quick format by click. ) I faced with several type of errors fixed it. My pioneer is AVH 8650BT at last i fixed it and update from 1.09 to 1.20
