Now they are tornado warning sirens. I was born in 1961, they were called civil defense sirens and in school we climbed under our desk with our hands behind our head. Threads is about 100 times worse. 1 it was based on the work of the joint US/Sov scientists who tried to show the world what would happen under the late great Carl Sagan.2 The setting in England is based on the last civil defence exercise our country had and it was the Army's estimate of what would happen to us here. It was so horrific that around half the councils in the country refused to join it, would you when you open your role/part which says you are all dead and so is the entire local population. 3 Even the differences in the end sequences. In Threads we are shown a very specific scene from the data those scientist s gathered. Radiation is ruinous to human foetus brain development. Her child can barely communicate. The message? NO one will be rebuilding because all the humans born in the aftermath will barely be able to talk never mind read a blueprint and reconstruct.

@@nathanwinhusen6017 Additionally, “hundreds of billions” is inaccurate and misleading. America HAS NOT contributed over 200 billion (which is arguable an insignificant amount considering the aid has been over multiple years and the US had a multi-trillion dollar YEARLY budget.) More importantly, these “dollars” are not pallets of cash sent directly to Zelenskyy as right wingers would have you believe. What actually happens is the US and it’s allies are contributing expiring military hardware (that has already been paid for) It is CHEAPER than decommissioning/wasting, with the bonus of costing Russian billions in parity to counter. The ultimate goal for NATO being to put Russia back in its place after it greatly overstepped. Hope I helped inform you on current events.

"The Cold War was won?" The Cold War was NOT "won." Communism was failing and had been failing for a VERY long time. Once the right man was heading the U.S.S.R. and the citizens to the east of the Berlin Wall started demanding change due to exposure to western civilization, communism started to crack until the result was the fall of the Berlin Wall. Reagan had nothing to do with "winning" the Cold War. Our spending tons of money they did not have on nuclear weapons in the arms race contributed little to the fall of a system that was built to fail. Sure, other countries are still communist, but they have either implemented much more rigid versions of communism or they have allowed enough aspects of capitalism in to remain relevant.
