“PIONEERS OF THE NAMIBIAN BORDER WAR | Part 1”
During the 1960s most African countries had gained independence except for Namibia. Geographically, Namibia is made up of savannah, dry scrubland, as well as the Kalahari and the Namib Deserts.
Namibia was then known as South West Africa a territory under South African administration from 1915 to 1990, after which it became modern-day Namibia.
The South African Apartheid regime believed that by holding onto Namibia, the guerrilla war in Angola would be kept further away from South Africa. South African apartheid laws were extended to Namibia and prevented black Namibians from having any political rights, as well as restricted social and economic freedoms.
In 1990, South West Africa was granted independence as the Republic of Namibia except for Walvis Bay and the Penguin Islands, which continued to remain under South African rule until 1994.
Rahimisa Ua Kahimise
Joas Juulume Iipinge
Nghialasha Elisa Elia Haulyondjaba
Rodger Mwaanga Mushimbwa
John Amapindi
These are some of the pioneers of the Namibian northern border war which provoked the liberation war for independence.

I’m forever grateful to our ancestors and heroes, for the sacrifices they waged. For as long as I’m alive, I’m ready to defend the motherland!

My great grandfather assisted SWANLA fighters who were crossing to go to Angola…he said they walked in groups of 3 to 4 men…he would kill a cow to feed this men who were exhausted and mainly starving with some being frail

Very interesting as a 37 year old South African with time in the South African Navy, volunteered in 2013, to watch this video. Respect It would have been interesting to see more about the involvement of MK, who are now the leaders of our country in government and defence force.

Swapo,FNLA,MPLA were absolutely useless soldiers. We mowed them down little stationary targets. They had no chance against our superior training and firepower.

Not necessarily, those organizations were outsourced by SADF yet they manged to out-think their opponents and inflict heavy casualties on them.

@@arcane7779Definitely Swapo soldiers, those guys made it rain on you when you least expected. Why did you withdraw after the battle Quito Carnavale?

But What had you achieved at the end ? It was the will of the people for freedom not firepower liberated countries. Despite your strong army we are now free from colonialism forever.

@josephnakale7343 And our country is broke. SAA is bankrupt,Transnational is bankrupt, most municipalities are bankrupt. Investors are leaving SA in droves. South Africans are leaving in droves. The Future looks bleak. Freedom in poverty.

Namibia of today is far better that it was before 1990.Yes challenges are and will always be there as in every country in the world, however we are leading ourselves in a pure democratic country.
