Got my assessment by phone on monday, anxiety levels creeping up, trying to tell myself not to 'waffle on', stick to the true facts of my sh---y painful life. Husband says there's nothing to worry about, hasn't got a clue!

@@juliacolebourne7989 not sure if I was a lucky one but i had my assessment a month or so ago by a gentleman saying he doesn't work for DWP, said he was a qualified medical assessor and to me he seemed very sympathetic about my health and ended up talking about his father and wished me luck on my application, at the beginning of this month I had a nice surprise with a back dated payment and yesterday received a confirmation email saying I was successful and your benefit payments per month will be £££ until..... So try to stay positive as there are some nice assessors out there... GOOD LUCK...

Your video didn’t touch on my main problem. I do walk sometimes the 200 meters+ but even so I might looking normal I am constantly in pain. I got fibromyalgia (would love a video for that illness specifically). I park on the supermarket and go straight to get a trolley to use as my walking support as I feel like my knees are going to bend to the opposite side, or there is a hammer hitting them or I am just exhausted. I can push myself to the point of tears. Even if I am just taking the bin out from back garden to the front of the house I am in pain. But I do it. I am a single mum with no family of friends that can help. Everyone lives very far away as I moved to my town when fleeing domestic abuse. I don’t socialise so I have to do all myself or just don’t get done. Many places I just don’t go anymore. This last summer I didn’t take my kids out anywhere. I just don’t think I can drive over 45 min to an entertainment park and do any walk while there. Plus I would get stuck as too tired/in pain to drive back. It hurts. But I am not sure how to put that down. I would say it does take me at least twice as long than when I was healthy. Apart from that I don’t know what to say. I am sure many times when the pain is not too strong I look normal, I just try to get home asap to rest for hours after. When it’s too strong the pain in my face is visible and I look all wrong and struggling with each step. But it’s as you say , depend on the time of the day, what I already done, what I done that week or even 2 weeks ago. I don’t want to look like lying but people don’t see my pain 😢 my pip form needs to go in 7 days and I still have no clue what to say 😢 any help please? 🙏🏻

Congratulations to you both for a marvellous video. I am very impressed by the clever way you both dealt with a distressing subject. You gave so much helpful practical advice very clearly. I truly admire the young physiotherapist for his skill, empathy and excellent presentation style. If governments listened to experts like yourselves there would be hope for both a kinder benefit assessment system and savings brought about by education and rehabilitation where possible. People's health stands a chance of improvement if the system could inspire trust and encouragement rather than fear and despair. I think you have a brilliant presentational style, it was heartwarming to watch you working so perfectly together. I look forward to more of your work together, he seemed to lighten the mood of the videos by being so enthusiastic and supportive to you and your audience. Thank you both.

Q: how far can you walk? A: up side of my house to car - she assumed that was 20m (it is 14m and I need to sit wen I get to car) Q: can you walk for one minute at a slow pace? A: I don’t know - question repeated several times until I felt obliged to say yes (used the ‘politeness principle’ to coerce preferred answer) - my slow pace is probably much slower than hers but irrelevant - she decided that means I can walk 30m Both questions asked on telephone and we had never met nor had they visited Lost higher mobility to 0 - reinstated standard rate at MR but still lost half

Hey Charlie, My interview is coming up this week. When I completed my form in the “moving around” activity section, I had put down option b. “Can stand then move more than 50 metres but no more than 200.” However after getting clarity from you and testing this out I’ve realised that I relate more to “can stand then move more than 20 metres but no more than 50 metres.” How do I navigate this in my interview? Should I clarify this mistake when I have my interview? Thanks for these videos ❤

Anything you can suggest for me to challenge their decision would be appreciated as they have said there is no right of appeal. Thanks.

@ I am sorry for what you are going through. I too have serious health conditions that seriously impact my life. But this woman is plainly exaggerating and that is what I have an issue with. Not genuine cases. The reason that you can’t do up a button is not a reason to claim PIP in my mind. I have to wear special clothing because of my eczema but I don’t claim benefits because of this. Sorry but people like this woman are the whole reason claiming PIP is so difficult. She has learnt all the things she needs to do to claim PIP and she is imparting her advice here. I’ve no doubt she has depression I’ve no doubt she has anxiety, but not to the crippling level she makes out. And NOT for 16 or so years. She also talks about having good and bad days. Well if you are genuinely disabled you don’t have that. As we age we all feel tired at the end of the day, we all need to sit down, we all get “wiped out”. She literally makes out she can’t walk when she can. There are videos of her jumping up whilst trying to grab her dog, there are videos of her out and about in the countryside. She’s not even a good actress when she does her fake moaning and groaning every time she remembers she’s supposed to be in pain. This woman claims she can’t make a microwave meal or butter bread. I’m sorry but I don’t believe her. You might be taken in by her but I’m not. I think on one of her videos she says she claims the highest amount of mobility allowance and also has been given a car because she can't take public transport. Why?? There are old people and disabled people that shuffle onto the bus and train but she can't. Maybe I just don't get it but I feel she is playing on this "hidden illness" narrative just to cover up that she isn't actually as bad as she claims.
