I admire how you don't skimp on the plate on your hinges, it makes for a much better installation, you don't have to worry about the hinges when you leave, I also like how you used the weed eater to clean up before you started, it always best to start out with as clean a work area as possible, it's safer and quicker, good job, keep it up.

Horse shoes good for the top of your rod jigs. And you could have used your drop off on your sucker rod to put uprights halfway between post to keep sucker rod straighter with no sags. Good job. Like the way you put sucker rod on center on your end posts next to gates. Would help keep cows from getting cut up and save time on beveling and grinding ends of sucker rods.

I have hung my fair share of rods on cattle pens and also had to fix someone else's work more times than I would like, that being said, I never span a 3/4 rod more than 6', 5/8 rod no more than 4' and 7/8 rod no more than 8'. Sucker rod is extremely strong as long as it is being pulled straight vertically and very weak when laid horizontally, just cut a rod a foot longer than the top rail is high, shove the rod in the ground and weld it to the top rail and then weld the horizontal rods to it.

What is sucker rod??
@shortfuse43
@shortfuse43 4 жыл бұрын
Solid steel rod that connects the pump jack at the surface and the down hole pump. Makes the pump move up and down to pump liquids to the surface. They are made of special alloy steels for specific purposes related to weight, corrosion, temperature, friction resistance, etc. in the down hole conditions. There are sucker rods that are made of fiberglass and other materials, but they are not common and are not usually found in the oil field. Austin is, of course, using steel rods.
