Thank you for this video. It really helped me. It can be said that Ansys is adapted for pipeline analysis. But when it comes to pipeline support it’s not exactly the best solution. In practice, we encounter every day that the pipe rests only on the underside. This would mean that the pipe is possible to move in all directions except vertically downwards. This cannot be achieved with Ansys standard boundary conditions. However, it is possible to use a nonlinear spring (combin39 finite elements) but also this is not the simplest solution, especially for someone who is a beginner at Ansys. If you know a simpler way, I would kindly ask you to share with us.

Thanks, You are right there is no BC to constraint only in one direction. In Ansys if you are looking for more exact solution then you actually need to model supports and then build non linear contacts.

Hi Team, excellent video can we import this load to modal and harmonic analysis to see how it will perform in dynamic analysis and if we use 2d element can we use pipe idealization....please calrify....Thanks !!!!

If you use shell elements, you pipe idealization is not done as 1D model. But shell elements represents the 3D Pipe so it should give the accruate results.

Thank you for your great video! I have a question - I try to compare thermal expansion for solid, shell and beam model of 1 m long pipe in Ansys and compare them against Caesar II. I get similar results for solid, shell and Caesar II but Ansys pipe 289 shows about two times less expansion, however, when I assign pipe idealization this strait pipe, I get correct result. Do you know why my beam pipe shows different results?

Ansys consider the weight of the water in the pipe? If yes, Is possible to check this option? It is important how large the pipe diameter. Thanks and congratulations for the great job!

Sir, in Same Analysis, can you give examples what is the requirements of Allowable stress in ASME and how to compare with ansys stress results,
@graspengineering9249
@graspengineering9249 4 жыл бұрын
Allowable stress is based on material designation, grade and temperature. you will get allowable details from ASME Section II Part D. You can compare allowable limit with ansys (equivalent) stresses. If you found stresses above allowable then you might need to do design changes (for present case pipe dimension).

Hello, If you have beam model, then you will have pipe option. If you have 3d pipe model then preform regular analysis, no need of pipe module idealization.

Hello, ANSYS design modeler or space-claim imports most of cad software file like catia, solidworks, creo, etc. Most preferable is step file. You can save cad file in step or iges format and then import in ansys.
