Thank so much! It is 1:45 am on a Saturday and I just set my time and temperatures to run my program. We have been burning up in this house so right now, everything is set for 68 degrees. If it gets too cold, I now know how to set it for a higher temperature.

What does it mean when the flame is flashing while in heat mode? Also, how can I tell if my heat pump is the unit giving heat or if it's switched over to indoor heat mode?

I have the same thermostat. I set it for all times as the exact same. Time, AM, PM, are correct but even after hitting run. I will have it set to 68 but it gets as high as 72 before the AC kicks on. In fact that is what it is right now. Even with it set to AC.

@@PipeDoctor Thank you for getting back with me. Turn out what it was doing is getting the house hot then waiting for it to cool back down. Then turning the ac back on. The ac was actually heating the house because I had a reversing valve that was stuck. I have a friend the worked hvac. He walked me through some steps. So I know it is blowing hot air when it kicks on. The cooling line is getting hot when it should be getting cold. The coil is getting 24v. It also is not shorted anywhere. The coil does become magnetic when the 24v is on it. Using this trick kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6XMiaCEZ9iqnaM I could see that even though the coil is turning on the valve is not moving. I have tried switching it from hot to cold over and over. To try to un-stick the valve. I have also tried tapping it hoping that the shock was knock something loose. Seeing the video I also had the idea to use a very strong magnet from a magnetic base to try and free it up. Sadly I could tell by the fill it didn't move even with that. It also didn't seem to fix it. So I have someone coming tomorrow to double check and replace it. If you have anything to add please feel free to let me know and thank you again for your response.

Questions: 1. can we simply set it as 72 degree 7/24? If so how do we set the program? 2. Our building basement have thermo IF80-261 and it's for the heat. Is the thermo itself the place it detects the temperature? (i.e. the basement temperature rather than 3F) right?

Is there a way to make that thermostat come on a degree warmer then what it’s set to? For example let’s say I have it set to 73° it clicks on when the temperature hits 74 degrees then once system is running it doesn’t shut down until 72 degrees while the temperature is set to 73 degrees is it possible on that model? I have the same exact thermostat but not sure if there’s a way to program it to operate that way instead of it maintaining 73

2 QUESTIONS: watched your video which helped me but once I press RUN, should the left side of the screen alternately flash the time then temp?? Right side shows constant set temp. Is that correct or did I do something wrong? Second question, it seems that there are 4 parts of any given day. Can the second and third portion of the day's schedule be the exact time as that morning/evening? I only want two different settings...one for morning and one for bedtime. Thanks.

The previous owner had this thermostat in the house I just bought, and I f'n HATE it. I don’t want to have to program 5 days (plus weekends) in 24 different 6-hour increments (and have to do this twice a year because of stupid daylight savings time changes). I just wanna set a morning temperature and an evening temperature, and have those repeat every day, regardless of what day of the week it is. Is there ANY way to bypass all the overengineered BS and just program one daytime temp that comes on in the morning and one nighttime temp that it goes down to in the evening? Or am I better off just having the damn thing pulled out & replace it with a less complicated thermostat?

Mikey how do you over ride those programs so there not kicking on all day. I have a family who gets either hot or then there cold so it's better for me to adjust by hand but it's annoying when all of a sudden it adjust itself to a different temperature depending on the time. Then everyone is yelling at me to change it. I'd rather change it during each hour I haven't figured out how to override the program settings other than I think keeping it on hold all the time. I have that same thermostat thanks

I have a model a little different (1F85-275) and can't figure it out. Basically it's just auto or fan. I'm trying to set it for heat, but not AC. That's why i found your video- which is great- but doesn't help my situation :( btw- congrats on having so many followers- impressive :)

@@PipeDoctor i found a referrel for a Matt owner of Top Shelf Air. He rinsed coils but the coils are showing corrosion. 2015 Rheem. Filled 3lbs on unit. Garage mini split took 1lb. He raised pressure to 130 over 400?.raised temp by 6 degrees. Unit was working but now optimal. He quoted me low 3k when I am ready to replace the outside unit. $390 total..

Yeah it’s hard when you are sitting down playing on your phone while Mikey is doing all the work. By the way When in doubt just put the temperature on hold. Keep it simple.

Mike , Learning to set the thermostats it’s time consuming ( for older customers). It’s not something they can do in a rush and sometimes you just have to come back to it and you’ll figure it out.. I feel bad for the kid. We are all watching the videos because either people do the same kind of work, or just find it really interesting. He's just there to make some extra money or because his parents told him he had to do something instead of just sitting around the house all day. Hopefully when he was on his phone he was looking up what superheat and subcooling are instead of checking his Instagram. Most of us didn't have the distractions of the internet or social media that young people do today. It takes them a lot longer to develop a good work ethic then it did for us because we didn't have those distractions. Hopefully the kid can develop his work ethic, and balance the phone use between work and play properly by the end of the summer.
