Personally any aircraft that carries UGBs or SFFSs are quite useful in this mission. Especially if you have a speedy fighter for the second phase of the mission.

I used the A-10 as well on my first go. Still considering the speed of Thunderbolt. It took me time to get to the land to start bombing. It could be my approach. Which is why I used other kinds of aircraft with more speed and plenty enough bombs, on my other playthroughs. I'm not dissing the A-10 by any means. We have barely some time left to bomb everything as possible to reach the target score. And getting everything else before the mission update was challenging with such short time.

Definitely can see this as a counter-attack track for either the FIA missions or NATO. After striking home, the survivors decide that the most unexpected course would be to counter-attack immediately afterwards to catch a prominent field general or the like off-guard.
