This scene was needed. Both characters needed closure. You can tell Larry still kinda has feelings for her and resents her a little bit but this was an amazing scene. I’m glad that Larry and Piper got to talk things out and Larry got to express how he felt because what Piper did was unfair.

This was one of my favourite scenes actually. They needed more closure and honestly he wasn't THAT wrong about Piper. But Piper flips the switch in this episode by not leaving Alex when it got hard. She chooses to stay with Alex and fight for their relationship instead of reverting back to her old habits.

When Larry said “go do what new Piper would do,” she actually did do just that, believe it or not. Cause before Piper would have definitely gone with Zelda, especially showing what a great life she could have with Zelda. Her actually wanting to wait for Alex shows a certain amount of growth in her character. I’m not exactly saying it was the right choice, but it does make me respect Piper a little bit more since she’s actually now showing loyalty and a certain amount of maturity.

I totally agree. She doesn't give him a lot of credit but she was definitely in a pattern and if she went with Zelda she would be good for a few years... until Alex got out of prison and back in her orbit. But Alex has also been right that Piper usually ran when it got too hard to be with Alex. So her ending of sticking it out, not taking the easier option a la Zelda, and not returning to her WASP-y life is really the best thing Piper has done in the show. I spent a lot of time in the show really detesting her character but am geniunely happy about how they wrapped up her story.

Alex isn’t a saint but it doesn’t mean that she doesn’t deserve good things and good people to be part of her life.

I did! She found her voice for the first time ever and it was amazing! She showed all season she'd changed. Gotta disagree with y'all. Piper isn't a garbage person. She does take responsibility for her actions, that was the whole point of her character growth in the last season, so if you're still complaining about that then you didn't pay attention. It seems like most of the people that don't like her just don't understand her character very well... And missed the point of several critical moments in her character arc this last season. By choosing Alex, Piper finally didn't revert to her old habits. And some of y'all are just saying her backstory isn't sad or tragic enough? That the other characters have a harder story or mental disorder? Piper isn't supposed to be that character. Piper is the character through which the audience initially sees and gets introduced to the prison environment. It makes sense for backstory to not be one of the tragic ones, but that doesn't diminish her own story. Y'all are acting like she's the only character who didn't grow up on the streets or something, or like it'd be realistic to not portray a backstory like Piper's. It wouldn't. She got a little annoying at certain points, yeah, but Piper is ultimately a far more relatable and better character than fans of the show give her credit for. Especially after the last season. But it doesn't seem like most fans of the show are as good at reading people (and their choices) as Larry 🤷‍♂️

I kinda think the same. I think their relationship is toxic and unhealthy. I know she loves her, but sometimes that still can't work in different scenarios and is self destructive. I do think Piper subconsciously sabotages herself. Maybe she didn't feel worthy or was scared. Usually, when people mess up something that is on a good path, it tends to stem from that. She seems to have problems with impulse control and decision making and with her emotions. I think she still has stuff to work through before she will ever truly be happy.

This is the best scene of the final season. It really shows Piper's character and her relationship with Alex via Larry (more like the writers). The limb analogy is definitely amazing. I think we cannot find another better way to describe Alex and Piper's relationship. They are like two broken souls and like human version of Yin and Yang. They are made for each other.

I think Piper is a bit self sabotaging, honestly, and her and Alex play games and hurt each other too much. Why go through all that when it can be uncomplicated, and you can actually be happy? I know love is love, but sometimes it is just too toxic and unhealthy. I've been through that myself. I think Piper has some stuff to work through. It seems almost like she sabotages herself out of punishment or something (maybe feeling unworthy or afraid?). That is just my perspective. If anyone wants to come at me for psychoanalyzing, then so be it. That is my opinion from all the research I've done on mental illness over the years and what I've dealt with first-hand as far as my own. I'm not a professional, but you don't always have to be in order to see certain things.

As soon as piper compares Alex to growing another limb, that Alex is apart of her, good God I just broke down in tears. I felt that with every fiber of my being. & when Larry was talking about how great that other girl was & that she likes Piper but all Piper can think about is Alex & Piper just blurts out “because I love Alex!” & “or I might stay here & wait for Alex.” Yes, there’s people you want to be with. They’re good for you, you like them. But it ends there. Then you meet someone who sets your soul in light. To the point of madness, to the point of devastation. They live within you. Become a apart of you. The darkest parts of you are filled with light. Losing that person is truly like losing an arm, losing a leg. Your heart. Alex is & will always be the one for Piper. It was 100% the right decision. I think people missed Piper's entire story in Season 7 lol. She showed every step of the way she'd changed. She made mistakes and it was a roller coaster ride. But season 7 Piper, was the absolute best Piper of the whole series. Piper and Zelda would've been just like Piper and Larry, it would've been Piper marking time and taking the easy way out. New Piper made her own life and decided to wait for the love of her life rather than run and I loved it!

He was pretty wrong and clearly loved who he thought she was without knowing her heart or soul. Alex actually knows her and loves her for who she is. This is why I'm happy she chose Alex over him and Zelda. Sometimes people want love to be simple and straightforward. All of her circle come from a place of privilege and would never understand her or Alex but that doesn't mean their love is wrong. Their love is pretty deep to overcome all they did and still care so deeply. It's the Piper Larry relationship that was shallow and meaningless. He never loved Piper but what she could do for him and his image. He continued to use her in prison for his career. To get with her best friend as well... He's just not got any morals so he would never understand a person with inner convictions. Wouldn't surprise me if later down the line if his relationship didn't last if Piper suddenly wanted to live life slightly differently because he not very accepting of differences. He took himself away from her and stole her friend and dreams and he and Polly were despicable to make Piper feel bad for being angry at them. That was a normal reaction to anyone whose fiancé slept with their best friend. They were the ones who needed to grovel, not make Piper do it. Honestly, he would make a terrible husband. You're meant to support a spouse in all situations and he left pretty quickly. The fact he can talk to someone he used to 'love' like this especially at her most vulnerable moment... he just has no heart really. All he does is judge others but can't see how deeply flawed he and his actions were and how unloving he was from the start. He's got a very weak personality and it's obvious when he ends up at the bar and also ending up with Polly but because he had therapy he thinks he's this enlightened person when he's just regurgitating some stranger's second hand account of a person he never truly loved.

I am by no means an expert on this series, but i do believe that like movies and books a good chunk should represent the whole of what it is and this scene does just that. It addresses these two characters, and their journeys in their lives. It also reflects a lot of real life scenarios. I myself am recently divorced and can really relate what Larry's feeling. My ex was always restless she could never settle down because she wanted something that wasn't a path, or something that wasn't normal because she felt that normal stuff had failed her and made her miserable so she decided she was better off cut off from everything. Meanwhile, I'm rebuilding and continuing on the path that i hope will lead to raising a family.

The analysis Larry gave is exactly the same one Alex gave to Piper around season one. And just like Piper said, that's the old version of herself, that's season 1 piper, not season 7 piper. I don't think Piper is in denial, she's angry. Larry said prison might be the best thing that ever happen to piper, because just like Alex, it is eccentric and special. Alex and Piper both almost died in the prison, Piper has a burned in window on her arm, and I know he didn't mean any harm but putting Alex's and Piper's entire journey to just that, of course pissed off piper.

Give Larry his props. He put up with so much from Piper. If she hadn't gotten arrested, they wouldn't have gotten married and if they did it wouldn't have worked out. I think in her own way she suffered from PTSD. Piper reminds me so much of The Ladies on The UK Soaps. For example on EastEnders Sharon Mitchell can Date, Sleep with another Man but it's Phil Mitchell that she wants, same thing with Katherine "Kat" Moon, she does the same thing but it's her Soulmate Alfred "Alfie" Moon. They do it because they don't know how to lead a Drama Free Life. I think that Taylor Schilling's Girlfriend had a small part in "Carol" where she flirted with Rooney Mara's Character Therese Belivet. Also Piper is so lucky in comparison to some of the other Ladies. She has a Family to go home to, a support system. She's not living in a Shelter or an overcrowded Apt., she doesn't have Kids in "Care", she has so much to be grateful for and it's not enough. My Uncle's Ex Girlfriend had three failed marriages and I sometimes wonder if it's because she still had feelings for him.

I love Larry in this scene. He’s grown as a person since the start of the show, but it’s like Piper has stayed in the exact same place, further evidenced by the fact that she actually went back to Alex in the end. I’m upset that she never grew as a person and never realized that her and Alex just weren’t meant for each other in the first place. Idk, I think it’s kinda confusing, because on the one hand, the fact that Piper decided to wait for Alex shows that she did change, I mean the old Piper wouldn’t have waited, she just would have left. But on the other hand, as you said, the fact that she went back to Alex proves that she didn’t change, i mean, as Larry said, Piper was looking for something especial, and Alex was her ticket to special, and Piper could be totally fine with Zelda but she is still looking for THAT special which is Alex. Back then her only reason was this feeling of being special and for self-centered reasons, but in the end she let go of a lot of her shortcuts ( Zelda's awesome life ) and waited for Alex. It's something that she couldn't do in the past and her whole development was basically around solving that and her toxic traits

I hated that she went with Alex and was hoping she would move past her. They have a very destructive relationship and I feel like Larry was absolutely right about her. I think that Piper working things out with her family (especially her dad), owning her mistakes, going back to school to get a law degree, and moving onto a healthy relationship was the perfect ending for Piper. Plus, Piper wasn't great for Alex either! Alex needed to find herself and figure out a way to be "good" without Piper helping her continuously to make the right decision. I would have preferred Alex being alone, but on the path of self discovery. I thought her letting Piper go was the first sign of this new self-growth and I was all for it. I understand why they wanted to put these two together, but I think that their love wouldn't have been diminished by not being together. Sometimes people come into your life and are meant to help you grow (doesn't mean that the love wasn't there) but they aren't meant to be life-long partners. I think Alex should have been that for Piper.

I really liked this scene because I think it's really relatable that Larry had such a deep psychoanalysis of Piper because he would've had a long time to think about their relationship and just to understand pipers decisions because that's what every one else does when they have bad experiences or relationship breakdowns. You just spend ages creating arguments and formulating ideas in your head to explain the behaviour of other people and I could feel that Larry was really satisfied when he told Piper all of his thoughts about her because he would've just kept it in his mind for ages and was finally able to express it to her. But I also think that he wasn't entirely right. I believe Piper when she says that she's not that self destructive. Especially since she has grown and matured and isn't the same person that he knew like she said. But also because I think even when she first transported the drugs with Alex I don't think that it was entirely just her trying to deviate from the WASP future laid out in front of her and be unique. I think she was more swept up in her love for Alex and the new lifestyle and I feel like all the other ideas about her wanting to be different were more subconscious or afterthoughts but I don't think that's her true character. I guess I've just seen so many characters lately who have a set path and they move from it and go with some wild adventurous and dangerous life instead and now it feels cliche so to me hearing that Piper is that same type of character is kind of boring and I'd personally prefer to think that she's just got a deep and somewhat toxic and faulty connection with Alex but she's learning to grow and mature and keep her life on track and avoid doing stupid and life impacting things and that her staying with Alex is not a regression. And when Alex is out of prison if they can last that long honestly I don't think their relationship will be toxic because there won't be any more barriers and I think they really would be happy together and supportive. I think it was a pretty good conclusion for all those characters.

Like it or not, healthy or not, they will always, always be a part of one another regardless of the toxicity involved... It's sad, and tragic, in a way.
