Excellent video, and I loved the wheel landing. Owned a J-3 at one time, and have a lot of time in taildraggers. I loved doing wheel landings.

Thanks. I don't get to fly the cub anymore (I fly my Citabria) but I miss it.

@@johnfrye4374 A Citabria was the first taildragger I flew. Loved it, have a lot of time in it. Also flew it on long cross countries. Did aerobatics in it too. Lot of great memories in a Citabria.

Agreed ! But I could not for the life of me spin it tot he left. I thought maybe the open door was acting like an air scoop or something, tried couple more times but just could not spin it to the left, weird

What I have seen is difficult to call a spin... It looks rather like emergency spiral descent, and a slow one as well..... Iy seems like you were using aileron to drop the wing, you should execute the spin from front seat, it would be rapid and proper...

The J-3 is placarded for rear seat solo only, due to balance issues.

Yeah, they were not the best spins I agree, I had a hard time spinning that plane

First, the J3 is rear-seat solo only. And if you did solo from the front and tried to spin it, it likely would not stall. Thus, no spin. The first attempt was a spiral but the second was a spin. A true spin does not have to be a harrowing ride. It just has to have one wing completely stalled. The more aft the CG the easier an aircraft enters a spin.

@@elmoreglidingclub3030 One way or another, I know J3 was a rear seat solo as many tandem planes (ex Zlin 526). but this video shows no real spin, just a spiral dive...

Why leave the aircraft entry door open? Do you like the possibility of damaging the aircraft in flight?
@johnfrye43746 жыл бұрын
One of the best features of the Cub is opening up the doors/windows. Its safe in flight to do so.
@LJDRVR5 жыл бұрын
The Cub is designed and certified to be flown with the door and window open in flight. Do you like giving advice to people on the Internet about something you don't understand and have absolutely no experience with or knowledge of? (Just a little rhetorical question to mirror your snarkiness.)
