did you mean Cannes CTR rather than NICE? LFMD RWY17 approaches are very interesting, RNP A follow by VPT A rwy17, you might have flying this, well done Marcus. btw, do you help handle ATC or Marcus done it all the time?

I meant "NICE CTR" when I tried to explain, why the tremendous long IFR arrival route to CANNES normally leads you so far out over the Mediterranian Sea. When you arrive from the east via Italy you usually pass BORDI waypoint. From there you are directed out over the ocean to the south east (!) on very low altitudes (4000 - 2000 ft), then you are getting westerly vectors to the instrument approach for RWY 01. If RWY 17 is in use you fly from there a downwind leg via LUXUS to the RWY17 final approach. This STAR is a terrible long way around the arriving aircraft for NICE airport. We did this arrival during very bad weather one year ago and I had filmed it too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pamtioKOoNCKfqc BTW: I wouldn't be able to do ATC while filming ;-) ... you need to have free hands to push the mic and turn in the frequencies.
