I is a Meridian, almost identical to the M500. We updated the G1000 to G1000NXi so it is a M500 ;-)

D-FLVL is a 2012 model (I believe). It was equipped with G1000 by the factory.

Hi Berndl! The Meridian is a 2014 and she was equipped with the G1000 and we made an upgradtowards G100NXi. By the way: We sold the Meridian and bought a M600 in the USA which is currently under a complicated registration process in Germany. We hope to fly for the first time in mid of November. The new M600's call sign will be D-FIII ... Delta Fox dripple India :)))

Hi Wolfgang Nav lights of on a IF flight? Weather radar only go‘s on when lined up on runway! DE ICE is for deiceing, not to be switched on at 1 degree Celsius plus…VERY dangerous practice!!!! Read up in POH! What does the ME list state about stallwarning heat on IF flights with known iceing? Read up on the difference between do- list and check-list.! Also check your angle of the weather radar on the climeout!

Yeah, turn on de ice boots without ice can kill you soon or later, it is just used when you see ice formation, if you turn on before ice is forming, you can make it useless...

Compare it to a C172 or any other piston aircraft - it is not so noisy. Due to the lack of a pressurized cabin, you certainly hear the engines much better. That's why you wear noise cancelling headsets, so you really feel very comfortable and relaxed in flight ;-) .... and the iPhone's microphone is pretty sensitive too ...

Hi Lemmi, leider hatte mich KZbin/Google OHNE GRUND gesperrt. Erst seit heute kann ich meinen Channel wieder benutzen. Ich lade heute noch einiges hoch ... nichts ganz Neues weil wir die Meridian mittlerweile verkauft haben. Aber wir haben eine M600 gekauft und werden nach der D-Registrierung bald damit unterwegs sein und Videos produzieren. Sie wird gerade auf "D-FIII" zugelassen ;-)

It is not an action movie! It documents a real impression of what is going on in IFR flying with a piston twin at or near the maximum altitude. It is interesting for PPL pilots etc. , maybe not for you ...

I fly a meridian as well. 2008 pa46-500tp. We have the avidyne suite with two Garmin 660’s. I love the look of the g1000’s you have there. Was that installed from the beginning or did you do that after you purchased? I really would like to get away from avidyne but I have been told by avionics shops that it’s not worth the price to upgrade. And if it’s built in originally from the factory like that it has more integration into the airplane. Just seeing your opinion.

Sorry for my late response which might be useless for you meanwhille! I was blocked by KZbin from my channel without any reason. Now I was able to reactivate my channel. To your questions. Our Meridian from 2014 was originally equipped with G1000 and we upgraded to G1000NXi two years ago - we invested about 60.000 $ and it was worth it. I think you would have to spent much more as you have to fully change the instrumentaton and wiring. But maybe you could get a return on investment after you sold the plane one day. We flew several times with avidyne suite before we got the D-FLVL and we of course preferred the G1000 as it is much more like a modern airliner instrumentation ;-) BTW: We sold the Meridian meanwhile and purchased a M600SLS. We hopefully will finish the German registration process within the next weeks. D-FIII (Delta Fox dripple India) :)))

The cause of the transponder error was actually the defective squad switch. This sensor on the chassis registers whether there is weight on the wheels or not. The sensor thinks the aircraft is still on the ground and triggers several error messages such as: A hydraulic warning when the landing gear is retracted. The automatic switching of the transponder from ground mode to flight mode does not occur, so that the controller does not receive complete transponder data... as happened in this case...

The DA62 was replaced by a Piper Meridian with a turbine and pressurized cabin, because we are travelling a lot with two very little kiddies. It is not possible to make the girls wearing these oxygen cannulas during flights in high altitudes. With the Meridian we fly comfortablely at 30.000 feet on much higher speeds ... it really made sense but it is of course much more expensive :(

Wolfgang, I have noticed that in this and another of your videos that the ladies in the rear with the young children are not wearing headsets. How easy is it for rear passengers to have a conversation in the Meridian without wearing headsets? Is your Meridian standard or did you upgrade the sound proofing? Interesting videos, thank you.

Nein leider nicht. Dafür müsste eine eigene Zulassung beantragt werden ;-)
