Dan Felix and Thom, I agree with both of you. First of all, the Malibu Mirage is a serious airplane and demands a serious commitment to preventative safety training and preventative maintenance.. So add in the cost of simulator/recurrent training. Become a serious disciple of Dick Rochfort and his approach to flying the type. Let's leave out the turboprops for a moment. Really, the M-350P represents the upper end of what can be done with current piston- engine technology. Conceivably, some sort of liquid-cooled or diesel technology could be developed for the airframe, but that cost must be recovered somewhere. In the end, fly & operate the airplane like Dick Rochfort, tailor the mission to the airplane, train, train, train, and you probably won't have too many problems. But you will still be dissatisfied that the a/c can't carry 6 1000 nm. On the other hand, your bank account will love the M-350P far more than it would a turboprop or light jet.

...it's a stepper...but like all airplanes, the pilot must compromise range vs load. Seldom does someone need to fill the seats, but you have the capability for doing so

Doing the math, I see six 150 lb adults, 60 gals fuel, and about 400 kts range. That ain't bad for 2+ hours in an airplane at FL250 in pressurized cabin class comfort. Remember there's no lav, so the 7 hours for a 1300 Knot range is pretty much a single pilot affair anyway. Your passengers are not going to make it that long. Seems like a beautiful and very versatile safe airplane! Sure better that the old Cherokee Six I used to fly. (-:

Hhhhmm no winglets, no carbon composites any where. Piston engine is way better on the wallet than a turbine engine. The evolution's turbine engine cost about 500k, in a 1mil. aircraft. Hmmm, will piper ever get with the carbon program?

can I order it without the 180 lbs of extra dead weight Garmin nonsense and get it with much lighter digital steam gauges. Then take off that stupid weather radar pontoon thats just more nonsense because Foreflight shows everything you need with stratus. Then it will be an awesome performer.

Weather Radar on the plane is far superior to Stratus and Foreflight.
