Great video, thanks. I could not understand the part about why the system tries to a reach a zero strain position and gain compressive stress? So after the shakedown, there will be compression stress in the system at the installation temperature (where initially the stress and strain were zero before shakedown)?

on cooling when the system acquires compressive stress at zero strain, will it not unload back once you stop cooling and come back to room temperature? what will be the unload path?
