Cypren thank you a lot for your time and for share this valuable information. I am 100% with you. Before to start any linear or non linear static simulation a modal analysis should be mandatory. It helps a lot specially with big models where some parts could no be constrained. This small simulation could save hours. Is also a good way to compare if a translation from other code has been correctly. At least it is a check. Suppose that you have a model in Abaqus, Ladyna or Nastran and you want to convert to Pamcrash if the modes are more or less same you are sure at least than for linear analysis models are equivalent. Thank you

Nice video. However, I have one point to make: You were telling about mass, inertia and damping, but a beginner may think that mass and inertia are two different entities, though they are intimately related. Probably you meant inertia, restoring force and the damping. Also, regarding modal deformations, instead of describing them as "fake" deformations, a better term would be "relative deformation of various 'points' of a body, since mode-shape vectors are always normalized. Thanks again for taking up this very important topic.

So for example if i get a results like you in your car example ( 1-6. mode shapes , 26.4 Hz, 30.9 Hz, 32.9 Hz, etc.) what will it tell me? If i have an outer source of frequency, which excites my system at these frequencies will i get resonance?

Hello Cyprien and thanks for this video, i am using Salome to mesh a manifold pressure vessel so i can create my geometry which has 4 folds but when meshing with tetra i get errors, and when i check my geometry i can see that layers overlaps,. The problem is when i create the initial face wich is divided to 4 manifold and i rotate i can't see this overlapping, so it's sad that i can not figure out how to solve this since i need the manifold pressure vessel with terahedron and then each manifold in my FE simulation will take a different material. Can you understand my problem? I saw a lot of your videos, they are so good, so maybe you have an idea
