Pippa encountered her preferred point in the square-cube law when applied to ravioli. In this case area = pasta, and volume = meat content. Too little volume, there's too much pasta, too much area, there's too much everything and the ratio is off. In this TED talk I will explore the physical characteristics of ravioli viewed through the lens of mathematics.

I wonder if the mini ravioli would meet the ideal meat ratio if it came in overstuffed variety.

I totally get it. I make calzones sometimes and making 2 big ones, or 4 medium ones, or 8 small ones using the exact same total amount of dough and filling is completely different. Shrinking the size brings more of the focus to the crust, but making it too big creates a giant glob of meat and cheese. 4 medium calzones it the ideal. Although 6 would probably be perfect if my stupid brain could either measure thirds by sight or not be lazy and use a scale

Ice cube tray, Pillsbury premade pie crust ($4.25 for a pack of 2), ground beef, seasoning, garlic butter, maybe a little cheese (mozzarella or parmesan), pasta sauce. 1).Place pie crust dough over the ice cube try to make little pockets. 2).Cook beef with whatever seasoning, add cheese if you want. 3).Place a spoonful of meat in each section of the pie crust in the ice cube tray. 4).Place the other crust in the package on top and flatten with a rolling pin before turning the ice cube tray over and cutting out the individual ravioli. 5).Use excess crust to make another batch. (24 ish total) 6).Place on a baking sheet and coat in garlic butter (egg wash will also suffice). Bake until golden brown and add pasta sauce. It is easy to do and a thousand times better than that canned dog food.

2:48 - I've never had a food memory quite as strong as when she started describing the need to split the raviolis so that you don't get them stuck together where they just suddenly make everything taste like bland plain pasta & ruin the flavor because they don't get adequately covered in sauce... _because she's totally correct._ While I'm not particularly bothered by it, let alone in a significant way, I definitely remember making sure to split up ravioli as a kid because if you don't get them properly split apart you will get whole bites that are suddenly just... not great tasting and it's worth the small effort to make them not taste bad randomly. Mini ravioli's meat-to-pasta ratio is even smaller, so they have even less to offset that specific bland flavor combination. If you're already sensitive to those sorts of things, that's definitely a valid objection.
