That doesn’t matter at all, Piraeus is the main port of the city of Athens for at least 6.000 years and in historical age the Demes of Piraeus were part of the City of Athens as most demes in Attica. Till the archaic antiquity Phaleron and Mounichia( the bay of Mikrolimano in Piraeus today) were the main ports of Athens and that’s the reason why they washed in the coast of Phaleron the sacred statue of Goddess Athena during the Panathenaic Festival/Games. A month in the Athenian calendar was named after Mounichia. In classical Age the bay of Zea where today the marina stands was the main military port of Athens while at the same era the commercial port moved from Phaleron and Mounichia bay to Kantharos which is the original name of the main bay of Piraeus where the main port of Piraeus is today.

Munichus which gave the name to this bay which today is known as Mikrolimano was one of the ten eponymous heroes of Athens

At last the Athenian walls of the classical age next to the modern main port of Piraeus are called of Eetion, Eetion of Piraeus was another of the ten eponymous heroes of Athens and he was the one that conquered the area of Kantharos for the Athenians in mythological age
