Holy shit, that angry rant on Pan was AMAZING. xD I so relate to that level of irate on poor adaptions: That was about my level of angry on Prince Caspian, because HOLY HELL, did they bork that up so bad. Also, while I ADORE Hook, I do agree with you on the bits where he yells at the kids, it makes me squirm even now. Everything else makes up for it though, apart from the Tinkerbell thing getting slightly awkward. I do really love Treasure Planet! The aesthetics are so cool, and the voice acting is actually so good. FREAKING MUPPET TREASURE ISLAND, OHMYGIDDYAUNT! I thought no one else had even seen that one, but I LOVE IT SO MUCH! Flipping Tim Curry is THE BEST Long John Silver EVAR. :D I'mma have to check out that miniseries, it looks DOPE! The Pirates is Adorable, and I enjoyed it very much. I'm super biased towards stop-motion though, and it had a great voice cast! OOH! Star Dust! With baby Charlie Cox! I quite enjoyed the film, Michelle Pfeiffer if delightfully evil, and Robert DeNiro of all people being a "Whoopsie" pirate captain is too much fun. xD HELL YEAH, THE PRINCESS BRIDE IS BEST MOVIE. WOO! Oh, the Nostalgia! I too grew up with Veggie Tales, and I rather loved the Pirates Who Don't Do Anything film. Silly Songs with Larry was always my favorite part of any Veggie Tales installment. YES! I always wished Zoe Saldana pirate babe came back! But I'm guessing she didn't because she got rather busy shortly afterward! After all, she's an amazing Uhura! The first is prob my favorite too, and probably the best film really, free of some of the convoluted-ness of future installments. xD This comment is long, and I regret nothing. PIRATE BOOK: For anyone interested, Ridley Person and Dave Barry worked together to write their own Peter Pan original book series. Its called Peter and the Starcatchers. There are several books and a spin off series (keep in mind these are YA novels so, as big as they are, they're easy to read through. It was also turned into a play (I've seen it 5 times!!!) and is one of my favorite plays to ever exist. Check it out, it till be very worth it

I think some of the great action and romance Pirate films you have to see are some Earol Flynn films called Captain Blood, and The Sea Hawk. I think I would have counted the Peter Pan films in a different section. I think my Favorite Peter Pan films are the 2003 version, Hook from 1991, and the Disney's 1953 version.

Not exclusively pirates (and yes I know I'm years late but) the movie The Count of Monte Cristo features swashbuckling, murder, revenge, torture, true love- it is one of a certain genre of films that the Princess Bride is kind of satirizing/paying homage to.

Is anyone else here familiar with "Pirates of Treasure Island"? It had Lance Henrikson as Long John Silver, added in Anne Bonney for some reason, an adult Jim Hawkins, and is definitely something I can only call a guilty pleasure as everything looked so bad: the color correction had everything being way too saturated, the sets and costumes were not weathered at all, and there were some amazingly bad accents; but it was still a fun watch.
