The biggest pirate song I made so far, sorry this one really took a while to produce.^^ The origin of the song is a 16 minute long recording where I improvised on the keyboard and I had to somehow cut it down to 5 minutes and orchestrate it as well as I could. So that took quite some time, also because I had trouble deciding which parts to cut away. It's painful to write a melody you really like and then you have to leave it out because you know that if you include it the song will just trail off into 5 different directions you didn't plan on.^^
I don't know what to say about the song itself because I really want everyone to be able to imagine their own scenery and story that goes along with the music, that's also why I kept the title very broad. So if anyone is interested please write a comment about what you imagined when listening to the song, I am very curious to read that!

Usage rights - please read: I’m posting the usage rights and important information about my music right here in a comment on every new video so that they’re easily accessible to everyone. =) USAGE: If your project (any project at all, movie, photography, websites, live shows etc.) is non-commercial, which means it doesn't earn you any money, then you can use my music for free. Only given credits are necessary, that's the only condition. Credits would be totally fine as a small text in the movie, website etc. written "Music by Adrian von Ziegler". In live shows and other projects where including a text would be difficult, an oral mention would suffice as well. =) On KZbin and twitch you can also use my music for free even if you monetize your videos by the way! ANY school projects have automatic free permission to use my music, no license payment is required. If the project is commercial, meaning it makes money in any way (except KZbin and twitch, see above), you would have to buy a license for the music you want to use. The license payment would be small in almost all cases except for big budget productions. It would be a one-time payment, so you can use the music you bought forever in that project. It does not give you any rights over the music however, so remixing the music, re-selling it etc. is not allowed. Giving credits is also necessary in commercial projects. Please note that "for free" only applies to the usage license. Music is my full-time job and is where 100% of my earnings come from. So no matter what you use my music for, whether it's commercial or non-commercial use, I appreciate that you purchase the music instead of downloading it for free. Many people misunderstand this part so I need to clear this up. I love making music, but if everyone would just get it for free I would not be able to pay rent, so please understand. It was always my dream to make enough money to survive with music being my only job, and that is only possible because of people who go and buy that music. Remixing, sampling and other forms of altering the original song into a new piece of music is also generally not allowed unless the remix is 100% non-commercial and labelled with the original title and author of the song (me). Adding bird noises, nature sounds or similar things are allowed. Nightcore alterations are also allowed while non-commercial and labelled with original title and author (Google "Nightcore" in case of confusion). So if your project is non-commercial or a KZbin project, just give credits and there is nothing holding you back from using my songs. ANY song you want. =) If it's commercial stuff just write me a personal message or an email at adrianvonziegler@gmx.ch and inform me about the scale and details of the project and we'll make a deal. REQUESTED MUSIC: I have recently made a very good experience with collaborating with other artists and am now - carefully - open to requests. Please note before sending me a request that any agreement will have to assure me a high level of control and independence over the composing process and certain copy- and intellectual rights over any composition that has been created on request (this entails for example that I can still upload and sell any music that I composed for a given project). Important: I do not allow my music to be used in any project that has a clear political, racist or discriminatory message or is pornographic. By that I mean anything that goes from direct political, racist or discriminatory videos or underlining speeches with my music, onto remixing my melodies into a song that has lyrics with clear political, racist or discriminatory message and similar things that clearly promote these things. Same goes for explicit pornography. Media with nude art is allowed, if not pornographic in nature and purpose. I hope you're having an awesome day, and thanks a lot for being interested in my music! =)

in the us there remixing,sampling and other such transformative works may fall into fair use making them not having to pay or credit you. fair use law is vague though. it mostly relies on wether the judge in question conciders the work "transformative"

I wanted the song to have an adventurous and epic feeling and not to mix too many different emotions together. Some of the cut out parts were too dark, others sounded too comedic etc. The other parts aren't lost though, I'm sure I can make new songs out of them.^^

Wow, Adrian. This was completely worth the wait! For someone like me who has grown up on an island and still lives on the same island. I have the sea air in my lungs. Just by listening to this I can see, the ebb and flow of low and high tide. Seeing the small fishes near the boat harbour swimming around. The seagulls are screeching as the weather changes and ships come back from their annual fishing trips. Pirates lay in wait behind a few smaller islands. Ready to attack the merchant ships on their way back from the city. Every single time I listen to your music. I see so many sceneries, so many different time periods. It is amazing how well your music just tickles at my creative senses and I'm able to see so many wonderful things.

This is amazing... during the song I have imagined a long pirate journey, starting by the darker and stormy ocean. I imagined a battle in the sea in order to get to the big treasure hidden in the nearest island first. Then I saw continuous fights at the beach. Later in the jungle looting some villages until reaching the treasure at 3:52. I loved it Adrian Von Ziegler, thank you!

Thank you, Adrian! Beautiful. This is what it made me think of: The storm lashes the deck with a stinging salt spray, but the pirate ship pushes steadily on driven by the crew and powered by the iron will of their captain. Suddenly, when it seems that the ship will not ride over another wave, they break free into glassy silence as they reach the eye of the storm. For a crystal moment the howling wind subsides, holding them within its heart. The sun streams down, gently lighting the clouds, washing the deck in its golden light. Then, the moment of stillness is broken as a giant wave approaches. It rolls inexorably forward across the eye until it towers over the ship, and for a brief second hangs in the air above it before crashing down on the deck and driving the ship back out into the storm, as if angry that they had found refuge within its very soul. Soon the stillness becomes only a bright memory as the sailors are once again plunged into darkness, held captive between heaven and earth by the waves.

Beautiful music! It actually made me pretty emotional, just listening to it. As far as what I imagined while listening to the song, I imagined a slew of different pieces of stories! The first was simple pirate pillaging and plundering, then a Davy Jones-ish scenario in which a pirate quietly trembled through underground halls to steal some great treasure. Next, my imagination introduced me to a cruel captain, striking fear into the hearts of every one of his pirates whenever he emerged. When the music really started to kick up around the 2:00 mark, I was whisked into the dark blue, underwater depths of a mystical ocean with many unfamiliar creatures and daunting circumstances (and a peculiar ability to breathe underwater, but nevermind that ^J^). The dark tunnel of water surrounding the ship on all sides was barely illuminated by a soft candlelight (how there was candlelight in an ocean, I don't know, but it looked pretty cool in my head). In the midst of the swelling music, I also saw a young girl run from the very pirate ship she was raised on, starting her own crew; long after she had grown, she came ship-to-ship in a confrontation with her old captain. As the music quieted, the mystical sea lay calm and still, the atmosphere unknowing - perhaps the crew had not made it, perhaps they did survive and reach land, or perhaps they have learned to live at peace in their strange new water world. As for the young run-away, there was sadness, and I've no idea how it turned out for her and the old captain. Pretty dramatic and cheesy, I know, but there it is.^J^

did you have to turn this emotional beatiful music into some cringy words? good music is music without words
@hopupjo
@hopupjo 6 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agreed, music does not need words. However, In the description and comments, Adrian wrote "I don't know what to say about the song itself because I really want everyone to be able to imagine their own scenery and story that goes along with the music, that's also why I kept the title very broad. So if anyone is interested please write a comment about what you imagined when listening to the song, I am very curious to read that!" That's why I wrote what I did. If he hadn't asked, I probably wouldn't have shared it. And I know I'm dramatic, I purposely made it cheesy because it's just fun to use words like that (even I cringed when I used the word "mystical", but that was the best word to describe how I felt about it), but I didn't intend to put on a show for the viewers (thereby drawing the attention away from the talented musician), or define his music/how it should be thought of with my own subjective opinion; rest assured, I was not trying to hurt anyone or ruin anything. If it makes you feel any better, I edited my first comment to point out all the cheesiness and remove a bit of it.

The story I imagined while listening to this inspiring and epic piece of music was a sort of "pirate fantasy" tale, I don't know if it's interesting or not, I hope it's not too cliché, I just closed my eyes and let my thoughts flow free. This is what I saw: "The sun is setting. A lonely ship of pirates is sailing on a golden sea. Suddenly, an obscure foreboding shakes the captain's heart. The water mirror breaks under vicious waves, predicting tragedy. The sea’s fury starts shaking the ship, which now looks as light as a feather. From the untamable waters rise two white wings, which immediately dive back into the sea. Then a tail, then sharp fins. A legendary monster is now awake, and all the crew screams as a tentacle grabs the captain, carrying him underwater. His son, born deaf, can’t hear the father’s screams but he runs to the stern, and his tears are as bitter as the merciless waters which now embrace the man’s powerless body, sinking like a puppet. His heart burns with rage. He turns around to look at the rest of the crew and his eyes widen from fear, as he sees them. A whole army of sirens climbing up the ship, piercing its wood with their claws. Their tongues cast spells, and their heavenly voices charm the sailors’ ears. They must be sent by the creature. They are its army. Not a man can move anymore, they stand motionless like crystal statues, hypnotized by the overwhelming choir rising, calling from the sea. The tremendous march of the beasts can be seen as it is only from the young man’s despaired eyes, the only eyes which can’t be corrupted by the gift of hearing. He runs to the helm, grabbing the wheel. The ship his father left is now under his control, a control he’s soon going to loose again. Finally, the sea comes to life. It creates a whirlwind column under the ship, which lifts it up like a toy in the hands of a kid. From the waves, right in front of the captain’s son, the sea monster finally shows itself in all its fury, in all its majesty. An enormous woman, with the wings of an angel, tentacles for arms and the tail of an eel, emerges and takes flight. Her eyes, as red as coral, pierce the boy’s hopeless look. Then, he sees him. His father is still alive, but wrapped in the monster’s strong grip. There’s only one thing he can do. He draws a small knife, the only thing his mother had left him before dying, and closes his eyes. He breaths deeply, counting to three. “Now or never”. Opening his eyes, he throws the knife at the creature. By some miracle, its small blade pierces through the scales of its chest and the beast lets out a scream. The first sound the boy can hear. The ship falls violently back down on the sea, the young man looses balance and falls in turn. When he weakly gets up, he hears the sound of the waves, for the first time. This is it. The curse is finally broken. His father had been thrown on the stern, next to him. The exhausted hero reaches the helm and looks down at the waves. The beast is now nothing more than the unconscious body of a woman floating on the waters, reflecting the sunset’s golden light. Now he can finally recognize her, and only one word echoes in his mind. “Mother”." Yeah, nothing special. xD Thanks to whoever could read until this point.

@Stealth47Murder

I'm creating a table RPG atm to play with some friends. Basically the main idea is that the protagonists wake up in a world they don't know and discover it, and based on the choices they make I create or develop parts of my world (which I got a really rough idea of). They chose to go towards a city with a reputation of being a haven for bandits, mercenaries and pirates and stuff (because they wanted to have opinions about the mysterious world from every type of population that lives in it, which is awesome imo). So I'm developping the city. I didn't want it to be stereotypical tho, not your usual fantasy pirate harbor, so i'm looking about ideas to give this city a soul of its own. This song gave me a really nice approach actually. I could feel some proudness in the melody mixed with a touch of mystery. I want the population in there to be proud of who they are, what they achieved with their city. It could be a city where the skill, the ingenuity, the art of speech and ruse are rewarded and even accepted as social norms. I don't want it to be chaotic like i planned it in the rough blueprint, but organized and with a population knowing who they are, but sharing a common goal in making their city something to be proud of. Hey fellow Adrian followers, what about some ideas for me ? What could i create ? What traditions could be in there, what odd ways of living ? What would a jail there look like ? How do they take care of the dead ? Idk It would be fun if you wanna help me create this city ? :D (Sorry for the potato english).

Well, imo, I would think the architecture should reflect the praise for ingenuity, whether in utility or looks. That makes me think of things like the Falkirk Wheel- a huge rotating boat lift, or the idea of an interconnected system of city lights that help light things, but also flash to notify people to get out of the way of authorities or that they should evacuate, ect. Or some sort of cable car system for the most common transportation- a fight scene on those would be interesting XD. As for what they do with bodies after death, I always thought it would be cool to use the properties of the human skeleton in construction- the femur bone can stand upwards of a ton vertically before snapping. (Much less if you're going in from 90°) That's about four times better than concrete. Traditions-wise, I think a lot of speeches or debates would go on- the legal court system might be a very big event. They are proud, so they would probably be big on celebrations of that pride, with maybe food or dancing or music. The occasions could be festivals to mark big accomplishments or advances, like the finishing of a big city project or closing of a deal. I don't have too much on ways of living :') but I think the children would be encouraged to run around on their own a lot, which builds independence and encourages them to figure out things on their own- they'd learn quickly that cleverness gets them far in that society. The jails would be well-kept if they take the legal thing seriously, and maybe separated into sections based on the severity of the crime. Anyways, these are just ideas (mostly about architecture, sorry) that I'm throwing at you, feel free to use them or not ^^

@@viteseul Hey I love the idea! The ingenuity in architecture thing is great, I initially wanted the city to be some kind of harbor so some complex bridges, wheels and stuff would fit nicely! And thanks for the comment, really fun to see people having completely different ideas that I would've had! The epic fight scene could be a nice way to end a scenario in the city :D

This music was awesome I love it when I see an upload from you it puts a smile on my face because I know it's going to be amazing. I imagine a ship traveling in the middle of the ocean with nothing in sight and slowly a storm starts to roll in and they start getting tossed about but they survive the storm thanks to the fearless leader the captain with her keeping a clear head and not panicking they are able to weather through the storm and sail toward land. Great job Adrian your music is incredible.
