Very well done video, and the room décor is excellent! The anchor outside of the corner window still fits the theme. But losing the Jacuzzi view of the waterpark through the huge, triangular window which this room used to provide... that is an irreplaceable loss. The new theme is simply amazing, but could it have worked if a standard (non theme) room 538, 638, 738 etc. with similar layout was renovated instead, without losing the Jacuzzi view of the waterpark? Now with the new layout with the Jacuzzi in the corner, the waterpark window is just 'there'.

We'll be staying here soon! After watching your space theme room video, I showed my husband LOL and we decided we needed a West Ed vacation. We booked that right away, and then as I was booking, the pirate room popped up! It wasn't there before when I was browsing, so it literally must have been made available. How cool that you were the first to stay. We've ended up booking another night so we could stay in the pirate room hehe. I am very excited :D Great vid! Loved the ending hehe.

I must say great channel. Your videos really bring me back to when I was a kid and my parents would take me to the West Edmonton Mall and thinking it was the greatest place on earth. Many fond memories. The mall just isn’t the same anymore. Here’s a potential video idea. It might be nothing but I remember wandering off on my own (times were different then, parents didn’t have much to worry about) in Fantasyland. If memory serves me correct, right by the train ride entrance there was an escalator that took you to this area of the mall that didn’t get much traffic. Maybe it was just the times we visited but there never seemed to have lights on and the shops often were closed. I remember a little Chinese food stand and it really smelled of deep fried foods. There was also a collectors store up there that sold cards and Star Wars figures. There was also some kind of McDonald’s themed play area possibly for birthday parties. Definitely a strange little part of the mall. I just remember being fascinated by this less than extravagant area of the mall as a kid. Why was it dark? Why is everything closed all the time? Why does it always smell deep fried? Maybe it’s not worth a video. Do you remember this part?

while the main selling piece of the window is not as prominent in this room now, the bunk bed makes it a much better value for a young family of four

I know this may sound a little odd, but when they were redoing the pool floor and cabanas. I went to guest services and specifically asked if they were going to be redoing room 438. They made a few phone calls and told me they would let me know next time I came to visit... I guess they did :D

I really wish I had a chance to stay in the old beach theme room, but hey the new pirate theme is good too, but I wish they kept the tub/ Jacuzzi next to the window, that really made the room

I actually wondered this too, considered the earlier lawsuit. It is interesting to me they chose to make a pirate that looks like Jack LOL. I'm sure they covered their legal basis, I'm just wondering why they did that. Is it a little nod to Disney, is it a little middler finger to Disney ... ? LOL. 🤷‍♀️ Either way ... Gotta love it when mannequins suddenly appear and freak you out haha.

I actually remember when me, my two sister stayed in the ocean liner room, and we loved the view of the water park, and I hAve a paint chip of the cruise ship, and it’s in a case, I don’t know why I do, but I do, It’s pointless to keep it I know, but I decided to anyway and to preserve it, I’m wierd like that

It was built into the wall, and considering the amount of reworking in there, I'd say it's a safe bet that it was scrapped. It was far too big to get through the door anyway... 😞

Lost me at putting in bunk beds for kids and making it a family room. Also by moving the Jacuzzi from in front of the window, now makes it a room I would never want to stay in. Kind of sad. Great work on the video though!

I could literally not find any availability for this room all year. Prices for the other rooms are listed in the booking section on the FLH website.

The answer depends on if the Pirate Theme Room will be considered a "Theme Room" or a *Luxury* Theme Room" by the FLH. But if you look at the FLH reservation website, it will give you the rate for both... Likely 250$ to 360$, depending on if it is considered "Luxury", weekday vs. weekend, and time of the year. Cheapest time of the year (and best chance of availability for specific theme rooms) is mid-week January and February. At least this has been my experience...

Best Edmonton Mall The Pirate Room was fantastic. My son had a blast. You can see how the window to the water park has been lowered during the renovation to allow a fuller view without that beam blocking it. The next night we booked the superior Roman room, it was super cool as well and the updates done to these Roman rooms are very classy. Both rooms were impeccably clean.
