Thank you Tim McCartney! I'm re-living my youth w/ your Pirates games on KZbin. I was 14 years old when I first saw this game on tv, I never missed a game, radio or tv. It's sooo good to hear Lanny Frattare & Nelson Briles again, & Milo Hamilton too! This is when the Pirates were 'The Lumber & Lightning Company' - Thank God I got to witness the whole 1970's, I fear us Pittsburghers will never see baseball this good again.

This was the Expos first serious pennant run. It was such an exciting time for city of Montreal. Sadly we fell short on last day of season despite winning 94 or 95 games. The mighty pirates went on to down the Orioles for World Series win.

Yes, they also made a run in 1980.

That was real Baseball, Don Robinson pitching a complete game, 1:47:27 watch the play at second Base, totally awesome. This game between Pittsburgh vs Montreal in 1979 was an amazing game.

I am also not a Pirate fan (although I did pull for them on the World Series against the O's). I just love those retro ball caps and i now seriously intend to acquire one myself! I'm in Western Canada and i started following the Expos during the 1979 season. I was a novice in baseball knowledge and history but by 1983 I was in it for life. Thanks for posting and I love the video quality which was top notch.

Dave Parker and Omar Moreno are the best

Dave Parker had the most massive crotch sweat of any athlete in history, with the exception of Leon Lett perhaps. Every game the Cobra had a sweat patch from the crotch to half-way down one or both legs. And you KNOW whoever cleaned those uniforms was dying every time from the funky smell.

Interesting Briles says Harvey has a small strike zone. In later years Harvey, a Hall of Famer, was said to have the biggest. Changing of the times?
@michaelgreen4804 жыл бұрын
Harvey always claimed he had a rule book strike zone, at least in terms of where the ball crosses the plate and he didn't add to it. His crew that day included Frank Pulli, who was more generous, and Eric Gregg, who could be too generous. The legend in the NL was Lee Weyer, who had a huge zone, but even hitters said they didn't care because he was consistent--the thing that matters most.

Unprofessional, cheerleader announcers. They may very well be the worst I've ever heard.

It's a local broadcast, not a national one. KDKA in Pittsburgh. Of course they're going to be more partial to the local team.
