My favorite thing about the Pirates of the Caribbean theme (He's a Pirate, mainly) is that part of its main recognizable riff was actually written Hans Zimmer for the soundtrack for Gladiator. Seriously, look up the song "Barbarian Horde" from its OST uploaded by Gavin Greenway, and skip to 5:35 or so. It's only for a good 30-45 seconds, but you can tell he decided to turn that into the basis for all the amazing Pirates OSTs.
