I'm still 95% certain that the whole thing was setup as a ploy to get a bunch of views. And it clearly succeeded. Whole situation made 0 sense. Also, calling them "nationals" is probably incorrect. Every one of the Chinese individuals except one spoke with a heavy British accent. AKA they have lived there for most/their entire lives.

The thing is - even thought there was no crowd, people stopping by probably made the boy more nervous and caused him to make mistakes. He's really good (unbelievably good for a 15yo) - but he still made mistakes (100% expected, it's a random public piano and and an extremely difficult piece). And I can assure you he can hear his every mistake and thinks that others can too (even though usually they can't) - which probably stresses him out xd

While I felt bad for him about that, it seems one guy stopped in surprise, but the boy noticed that and it made him nervous and threw his playing off a bit, so the guy decided to walk away because I think he didn't want to make the boy nervous. I have no doubt this kid can play this perfectly in his living room, but naturally the eyes of strangers would make anyone playing such a complicated piece nervous.

Rush E in its full version is unplayable solo - someone worked out that to actually play it, you need 9 pianos, 22 pianists, and 2 engines (blocks of wood you can use to strike multiple keys at once). You *can* make rush e easier to play, but you can also make it harder, by playing more or less of the original. Thats why it is 'the hardest song in the world' - because technically it is impossible.

When Yuja Wang played the 5 Rachmaninoff concertos back to back, the fact that she did so without sheet music is probably the least impressive part of that momentous achievement.

i don't think there's any musician that get's appreciated more than a piano player. we've all had a go and know it's so hard and takes serious effort to learn. i remember a m8's brother up from oxford coming out with us one night and having a go on the old & rarely used pub piano in our local, everyone started singing and no-one would let him get up lol.
