Barbossa is still a bad guy! The reason why he looks like a hero in the other movies is because he fought for the pirates and here saved his daughter but those are the only good things he's done He doesn't really care about Jack or Will or Elizabeth he needed them otherwise Beckett would have won and with Blackbeard taking over he needed Jacks help and in this movie he also needed Jack And we learn that in-between movies 4 and 5 he got rich killing off innocent people like when he was cursed So Barbossa is still an evil person just with different goals

Okay which one of you is cutting onions in the comments! Admittedly Johny Depp brought a lot of appeal to the character of Jack Sparrow, but I think Geofrey Rush performance as Hector Barbossa has been left underappreciated. He has some of the best scenes in the whole series, amazing chemistry with anyone he is in any scene he plays and really made the character his own. One Franchise you can enjoy all movies individually, and all together at the same time. There were a lot of powerfull moments in the whole series but this is probably one of the strongest moments. Barbossa has been developed to be an insanely likeable fellow, who at the end shows that even though a Pirate, he knows who to trust and how to trust them. The whole hidden friendship he had with Sparrow even though trying to mischief each other often, this scene just shows how close and important each one was for the other. Throughout the whole series only Sparrow calls Barbossa Hector, people think is the only time he calls him Hector in this scene only but watch again the whole series, you will see that Sparrow always addresses him when face to face as Hector which shows how intimate they are together even if they try to hide it and not show it for pretences.

it's a really nice explanation of how the compass works, it guides you, wherever you are, and whatever you are thinking of, until you find the thing you want most, most than the compass.

We all started watching POTC for Jack but we all stayed for Jack and Barbossa. He was a legend within the franchise, I feel if they ever bring it back without him and Jack the franchise will never even be a 10th of what it was

Jack sliding the sword out of Henry’s belt and dropping it to Barbosa as he fell to take out Salazar is badass. It was like the two were on the same page without having to say anything to each other. Jack knew his boy needed a sword to take down Salazar and save his daughter.

His whole life as a pirate, he knows her in the only terminology he ever knew, as a 'treasure'. So sweet! And no better way to go

Plus, Geoffrey Rush confirmed that His character Barbossa’s story arc is finished with this film meaning that this time Hector is truly dead ☠️ no more resurrection. “Prepares his Soul is now Redeemed, ay”

What really gets me, is that Jack and Hector always fought furiously as immortals, as pirates because that was the only life they known, because their knowledge of the magic in this world would always protect them both from infinite death, Jack now seeing this will be the very last time he will see Hector is absolute pain even for a pirate to bear. Went toe to toe with the worst that ever roam the seas not only as enemies or partners, but in this case they were always good friends, Jack knew Barbosa would stare death in the face for treasure and embrace death for the what was most precious of all. To see Jack call out to Hector to give him that sword, you know a legendary sacrifice is going to be made. No moment of hesitation at all. They need to make a movie of young Jack and Hector for how their journeys began. This deserves a proper prequel of the the greatest pirates of all....Jack Sparrow and Hector Barbossa.
