This shows the original last "scene" where the pirates are trying to lug and pull all of their treasure up the hill. This is the version that I remember growing up, and I prefer it to Jack Sparrow and the treasure room that is there now.

i love the smell right when you enter the battle scene after coming out of the caves. it's amazing, haha. and i love this ride!!!

i love how all you have to do is walk in and it just has a specific smell. its so weird. my whole family is disney fanatics, and if we go somewhere and it smells like POTCB one of us will say something about it. Its crazy. Supposed to go on may 15th! Im praying for it!

THANK YOU THANK YOU! Pirates used to be my favorite ride before they added Jack Sparrow. Now the whole story line is grounded and based on him rather than guests making up their own adventure! I love his character, but the movies, and even him, were inspired by this ride, the way guests should also be allowed (and challenged) to do themselves! Disrespectful!

I am totally against changing original things just to make them framiliar to younger and less informed generations... but the additions to the Pirate ride haven't been that bad. All in all though, thank you very much for preserving this so I can remember it before Captain Jack and Davy Jones and Barbossa were included. Top notch video- AS ALWAYS!

I remember going on this version with my mom (who was deathly scared of roller coasters and heights) when I was 4 or 5. I remember when we got to the final lift hill - she braced me thinking we'd get the largest drop yet! Then let out a nervous laugh when she realized it was just to get us back to the loading station.

My favorite ride in Disneyland and one of the longest ones I've ever been on, sucks the got rid of the original stuff because of the movies!

The footage was from Spring 2004 and it happened to be after a tuning refurb (change light bulbs, etc.) The AA's did get an upgrade but I cannot remember exactly when. RU

What superb audio! Now, everything sounds so echoey and you can't hear things clearly! I think the one thing I miss about this ride is at the end when you're going up and the pirates are trying to pull all that treasure up to the boat. Ahh good times.

I am not sure how to tell you this but it has never been 2 boats attacking each other. It has been 1 boat (Wicked Wench) attacking a nameless Caribbean port.

one time i went on this ride when i was little and there was a lull in the line so the guy at the landing asked if we wanted to go again, so we did. i miss that. i wish there was a lull in the line last summer!

Awesome work as always :D AS much as I like having Jack in the ride, it's still nice to be able to see the ride as it was before. In fact, the only thing I have to complain about the ride is how the diolauge seems to center around Jack. It's all "It be Captain Jack Sparrow we're after" and "Where's Captain Jack Sparrow?"

Yes, the Blue Bayou restaurant sits on the water that makes up the beginning of the ride. It is a good restaurant with an awesome environment. - _ RU

One of my favorite parts about the queue for this line is you can randomly hear the Tarzan music next door. Also I love the music you hear once inside the manor. I'm a fan of both the original and updated attractions, as I am with the regular Haunted Mansion and Haunted Mansion Holiday. The old Pirates had its nostalgia and the new Pirates has its nostalgia. They are great attractions either way in my opinion. : )

I remember when the skull and crossbones were different and at the end of the ride where there were pirates pulling the hulls of the flag. I also don't remember seeing the davy jone waterfall today I the boat moving toward a dark area where there would be pirate whispers warning is not is move more foward.

The restaurant last I know was called The Blue Bayou Terrace - and it overlooks the ride. It's good food too, EXPENSIVE, but then again what amusement park is complete with a $40 admission and $29 for food. :)

boy this brings back memories. i remember hating the drops (still do), but absolutely loving everything else. i wish that this version still remained and even though i enjoy the version with captain jack sparrow and captain barbossa and davy jones and such, this is one of my favorite versions, the favorite being the version where the pooped pirate is talking about the girl that unbeknownst to him is hiding the barrel behind him. he says, "Oh she be a lively lassie she were. hehehehe Oh, I tell you true... it's sore I be to hoist me colors on the likes of that shy little wench! Uh ha, uh ha, uh ha ha ha, uh ha. I be willin' to share, I be! Ha uh ha!" then once the famous song plays i remember when they shut it down i was super sad that the original i was used to had gone, but i was excited for the new one. after it opened i when on it once and then for a while wouldn't go on it because of the drops. i now go on it every chance i get. now, i haven't been to Disneyland in a couple of years, but txt time i go pirates of the caribbean will be one of the first rides i go on. i also plan on watching the movies as many times as possible on the way there.

i remember the first time i went on this ride when i was 7, i saw the little resteraunt at the beginning and said out loud "wow, disney is amazing, those people sitting eating at those tables look SO real! i can't wait to see what the pirates look like" XD ohhh boy did i get some funny looks from the people when my dad told me they were real LOL!

I hear ya. The marketing was always there. People complain that they just use Adventureland to sell Jack Sparrow now, but walt used Frontierland to sell Davy Crockett so nothing's really changed

im 12 years old and i also remember the first submarine voyage without nemo and how you used to see planets on spacemountain. i live in los angeles county and when the tickets were less money we went there a lot! i miss the old version, especially the part where you hear "no fear ye have of evil cursus says you" part. p.s. does anyone recognise that voice as the ghost host on the haunted mansion(paul frees)?

The rumor is that SC inspired Small World; not Pirates. It is also rumored that SC caused Disney to create AA but AA was introduced in Tiki Room a year before SC was opened.

OMG I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN!!!! POTC AND Indiana Jones both a this smell to them!! I went to my cousin's for the week and her bathroom smelled like it!! haha I would just walk into the bathroom to smell it because it reminded me of it so much!! They closed the ride for months but almost nothing is different. A few spots during the ride you see Jack Sparrow pop up. The only cool addition is seeing the Davey Jones hologram.

Pirates was closed because it got a major refurbishment. Jack Sparrow is now in the ride along with a couple other changes. I will have a video on it sometime in September.

This ride is awesome. It's dark in which you do get wet. Did you know that it started off as a wax museum? Sorry to spoil the magic and fantasy. Please watch Making of Pirates of The Caribbean when you get a chance. I'm talking about the Disneyland version of the dark and flume ride here in the comment boards which opened to the public 54 years ago in March. PLEASE make it clear about the opening date. 👍🏻 if you enjoy traveling to Disneyland and plenty of theme parks located all around the world very much even though COVID-19 is to blame for the closures.

Now it seems funny that everything about all of Disney going Jack Sparrow fever wouldn't last forever. Thinks in part to Frozen and possibly the stuff with Marvel and Star Wars have overshadowed the Pirates films!(i only the first and second film but that's it). Plus i really dislike the changes made to the ride just add the movie elements in since they don't make sense with the original story elements(what is darn important about Sparrow anyway its pretty annoying really), it would be a wish fulfillment once Sparrow and the movie elements are removed some day from this classic!
