Understand the language of sailors is their own, What you understand the words to mean, if you do at all, may not be what they actually mean aboard a ship. A simple phrase carries a lot of meaning and requirements for action. Also, despite the movies we watch Pirates were a pure democracy. The captain was elected in most cases, and he ruled at the sufferance of the crew. He was not a domineering tyrant. The crew would get rid of him. And they voted on every major decision. On to the song. Not sure why the king and his men would bind the queen in her bones if not just to say what the pirates thought of royalty or other rigidly structured organizations. But clearly "The Seas be ours and by the powers, where we will we'll roam", that verse is a declaration of their independence. A modern wording would be something like "We are free to roam the seas whenever and where ever we want to, with a nod to God, the king, or whoever you thought the powers were. "Yo ho, All Hands Hoist the colors high" (a command for every able man to participate in the work the captain has ordered. Or in our language "everyone work together with each other, and raise our flag of identification. The flag is called the colors and it tells any other ship near enough to see it who you were. The final bit of info is high, meaning all the way to the top. Colors could be a national flag like England's or America's flag, or for pirates it could be the Jolly Roger, the familiar the Skull and Cross bones on a black background. In the second chorus they use "Yo Ho, Haul together" Yo Ho and Heave ho are essentially the same thing as described in the next paragraph. Heave and Haul means pull or "Pull together" Now a brutal bit. It's a lot harder to describe what all this means, than to actually do it. Aboard a ship if you don't get it, the Bosun will give you an incentive to pay attention by striking you with a stick or something on your back or shins to get your attention. You will get it shortly if you don't want a repeat. Heave Ho, thieves and beggars - To do things in unison, remember the only work accomplished on board was powered by the sailors backs. That was what they had to raise the colors, or the sails, or anything else requiring a coordinated effort. Somebody has to coordinate the effort to get maximum results. That person supervising the work would be the Bosun Mate. To coordinate the effort he would yell "Heave" and the crew would respond altogether with "HO" while pulling/hauling on the line that would raise the colors. In practice it's much simpler than this description. It's rhythmic and repeated until the task is done. so it's just "Heave", "Ho", "Heave", "Ho", "Heave", "Ho", until the bosun yells a command to stop such as "avast" and the men would then cease their rhythmic pulling on the line. "Thieves and beggars" describes most of the crew, who especially in the Royal Navy were men with little or no shipboard skills and forced into sea duty. Press Gangs were the ships senior and skilled people who would wander around the town as a group gathering people by force to fill out the rest of the crew, and often times would get them from the jails. There is an order to things. Among the ship's crew the Bosun would be a trusted highly experienced sailor. The men he is commanding would be the thieves and beggars in the Royal Navy anyway. Not sure if pirates pressed people into service. At least I have never heard of it. Nevertheless, the workers would be the lowest in the caste system of sailors. Probably "Never shall we die" is the is the most easily understood. Except life at sea is hazardous and people will die. But you can't dwell on that, so this would be reassurance. Sorry, maybe someone else can finish, I have to call it a night.

This is the song that was sung to initiate the gathering of the Brethern Court to reform the remaining pirates to fight back against Beckett. In my opinion the Queen they're referring to is the sea goddess Calypso and references how they stole her away and bound her in human form. The King is referring to Davy Jones as it was he who betrayed Calypso and helped the Brethern Court bind her to begin with. All together references their need to band together and hoist the colors is referring to them hoisting the flags of their ships as they join together to go to war after freeing Calypso from her bones.
