I always loved Latvian entries as they are so different each year. In 2007, you had six opera singers and in 2008 you had pirates (main singer here Roberto Meloni was part of both entries, though). Every year Latvia brings in something new and something completely different.

It has some similarites to the Swedish band Rednex that had some hits (like Cotton Eye Joe) in the 90s. "Wolves Of The Sea" was originally written by 4 Swedes and sent to the Swedish national selection "Melodifestivalen", to be performed by the band Drängarna with some other lyrics, in Swedish. It was rejected, but found it´s way to Eurovision anyway, with Latvia, and did much better than the Swedish entry that year, "Hero".

People can complain all they want, but in my opinion, not everything has to be super high class, but I wouldn't call everything that is not high class garbage, because there does have to be a certain degree of quality. This may not be high art, but as far as I'm concerned, it's a good song, because it's catchy, energetic and clearly made to have fun with while joking around. Trust me, I've seen entries to Eurovision that were much worse and were more genuinely insulting, this at least tried to have fun and joke around.
