I once made a simple factory class that spat out different types of objects based on id. Naturally I used switch case. It used the default case all the time and I spent over half a day trying to figure out why. In act of pure desperation and going mad I changed to long ass if-else instead of switch. from what I remember of mechabellum a shield indeed does block a nuke but the nuke kills the shield. The good news is anything inside the shield will still be alive. However the mushroom cloud visual blocked us from seeing and additionally I think most of his units left the shield and got hit.

There are two kinds of shield. Personal shield and these bubble shield domes. The personal shields guarantee resisting at least one stance of damage. The bubbles do not as far as I know.

Yes, the shield works against the nuke, but the shield only works for ground troops and the steel balls were also already charging out of the shields, so pretty much the only thing left would be the arclights.

The shield is projected by the ship floating above. The nuke would destroy it, then melt everything under it. Now if the ship was projected around the projector, then it might have survived.

Mechabellum is an auto battler, not a strategy game. It's worth checking out!

I think a lot of strategy games do a poor job of easing people into the game. A lot of them fall into the pitfalls of expscting their players to understand typical Strategy mechanics like; Resource gathering, base building and unit controls. A good strategy game slowly teaches these things at a steady pase with actual gameplay, rather than just a bunch of text. Once you understand the basics it probably isn't nearly as complex and daunting as people originally think.

Shield do actually block nukes. They always protect from any source of damage, even if it takes the shield down.

They block at least 1 instance of dmg. But if the shield was hit before the nuke, then it absorbs only damage up to it's health pool (so leftover nuke dmg will hit units below).

It does work. It always block at least one instance of damage no matter how high. The clip didn't last long enough to show that his units survived. I'm surprised how few people know about Mechabellum here.

@@killerlock666 No, it's an auto battler. You place mechs on the battlefield and let them fight. Each round, you get to select a card that will upgrade your units or give you equipment/reinforcements. Victory is decided when a player loses all of their HP.

oh also, the shield did in fact work. shields will always absorb 100% of the damage that destroyed it. a shield with 1hp left will completely nullify a nuke dealing 50k damage
