Good memories, I was only there a few times. Best trip was about 1974 for my promotion ceremony. Couldn't get an Army vehicle so I drove my POV. Folks were a bit excited when they realized that I had my weapon and other gear in the trunk! An interesting day.

Pirm was my first duty station in Germany back in 83. It was a very fun and rockin' place to be stationed. But then I got sent out to a shitty line battery and from there got sent to that toilet Baumholder. I can honestly say Pirm was the best place overseas I was every stationed. Too bad it was closed and has fallen into such a state of decay.

March 73 to July 77 I was stationed in Clausen which is north of Pirmasens. We had to go to Pirmasens quite a bit for personnel and finance matters as well as the theater, commissary and PX. I have a lot of great memories of playing for the post softball team and meeting some very nice German people in the area. This video brings back a lot of memories.

We lived in both Pirmasens and Zweibrucken 1970-1974 and there was a Schnellimbiss midway between the two towns that had the most delicious curry wurst and pommes frites ever!

I lived in Pirmasens, in 1966-69', when I was seven years old. Wonderful memories, of base apartment living, friendships, the schools, playground, the sheepherder, across the roadway, herding the sheep right beside the base housingbuildings! We would watch from the window, from the second floor. The beautiful Chapel, which we could see, from the rear windows. The roofs of the buildings, being remodeled, from flat, to pitched. The 'Gummy Bear Man',who always overcharged on the candy. Trading comic books, from floor to floor, playing 45' singles records, that my father, a Master Seargent and MP, would bring from the jukebox from the 193rd Military Police Company, where he worked. The records were like new, and we would get the most recent music, as the jukebox wasupdated with newer records. The Cinerama, a small, military movie theater, where you got to see movies for.25¢. Weekend trips to visit castles, boat rides on the Rhine River, shopping and eating at German stores and restaurants. Going around the corner, on Sundays, to get the newspaper for my dad, at the PX snackbar. The Frontier Club, where you had a great meal, with beautiful tropical fishtanks, and a floor show. My momfirst saw Charlie Pride perform there. Christmas was pure magic, with all the snow there was in the Winter.Stairwells, skating on the sidewalks, walking to school, coming home, for lunch, and walking downtown,to shop the open markets, and a great toystore. The movie theater, where we first saw, The Sound ofMusic.

This video was a nice reminder for me. I was stationed there from 84-86 with an MI detachment. I was only in the barracks for a short period until my off-base housing was approved, then I moved to a little apartment in Rodalben. Our MI detachment didn't actually work on base; we were in a house near a gate on Rodalberstrasse and Massachusetts Ave. This video brings back some great memories.

I feel the same way about Landstuhl. I was a child there from 1971-1976 and at least the hospital and post is still there. I’d love to visit it soon but have no idea how to go about it.

165th Signal, 05CV9, 83'-84'. If we were there, I'd toast you with a Parkbrau and some currywurst. Don't know how long personnel might have stayed on there, but it's remotely possible that we had the pleasure of a few mutual acquaintances. I regret that as a 19-year-old kid I didn't make more of the experience of being there in Germany, but as you probably know, we V9ers were always on shifts that made things a bit restrictive. Anyway, hope life has been good to you since those bygone days, my Signal Corps brother.
