The braid grip design isn't so much for when your spooling up from the start on braid. It's to keep the braid from slipping around the spool when a fish is pulling against it. Once all the braid is on the reel, I'd imagine that the braid grip will do as it's designed to do and not slip.

I've had these reels for over 4 years and haven't had any issues. Used them for bass and trout fishing. Great reels for the price.

Dynamite series, Steve. I love that you bought 5 versions, ALL all in my favourite size (3000). I have been tempted many times online to buy Piscifun but have held back, not knowing/trusting the brand. Your video today and the four that will follow are "just what the doctor ordered". I’m partial to trying low-end setups, but this will definitely be on my watchlist if any of my reels decide to go bad. 5:2:1 is my go-to ratio for my type of fishing at the creek. Walmart has a nice southbend kit that’s $21. I’ve abused it and they still work great. Might have to do the same with piscifun.

The Pscifun reels are very good reels, I"ve used most brands, and yes mine get fresh and salt use. They have been fine, but I do flush my reels with fresh water when I get home before they are put away if they have been used in the salt. Also always remember to back off the drag before putting away, this keeps it working nice.

True. But most of the country never gets to the coast. They do have several other models that are salt rated.

I went back 3 years in your videos and I cannot find you having or fishing with a float on your rods. Are you just that careful or do they get in your way? I fish freshwater lakes. Thanks for all your videos for all these years!!

I find the floats get in the way. I did a review a number of years back, used them for a while, and stopped. Part of the decision is I fish in very shallow water and I can just hop off the kayak to get my rod back... it happened two years ago.

@@KayakhacksFishing Originally being from the edge of the Texas Gulf Coast, I thought that was it. I also wondered how much they would get in the way. I guess I’ll try it with pipe insulation due to now fishing in deep freshwater lakes. If they bother me too much I can always just take them off as they cost very little that way. Lost part of the comment. Don't remember exactly what I said... 🤔 The Captain appears to be the saltwater version of this reel. I'm looking forward to see how it does in your tests. The price is right for my budget, so if it looks good then it may be my next replacement reel. My standard cheapskate approach to getting quick tackle when on the coast is to shop for a rod & reel combo based on the rod, knowing the reel will likely fail that season. Then replace the reel with a reasonably good one. This is not the approach for the good stuff, just the short-notice need-something-quick stuff.

Yes, the Captain is the made for salt version. So far, so good with it.

I’ve been fishing with Piscifun Serpent rods with Auric (salt rated) and Carbon X reels all spring. They perform as well as reels/rods 2 or times the price.

is not "paisci" fun.... It is "Piscis" (half latin) and "Fun" English... Lets keep going...NOT ALL the "Piscifun" reels are created equal....They are made in different Chinese factories. Are they cheap? Yes, they are. Are they good? depends the model and where in China is made.. Do I recommend them? For the for the first time I disagree with you. My answer is : NO. Get Quality instead of price. Since COVID I don't recommend nothing from China anymore. Regards. Fred.
