Rad. Finally, something good and simple. Thank you for not blabbering on about nothing like other videos out there, I was just about ready to throw my phone off a bridge

Excellent video. I would like to give an additional piece of information if I may. Another key factor in the booster assembly is how the recoil impulse is actually created. You hit the head of the nail on that one with the barrel and slide being locked as one, and the recoil impulse comes from the gases/blast escaping at the firearm's muzzle. This allows that impulse to happen as it normally would, firing without a suppressor. However, if a booster is not used, now you have a three piece fixed system. The only possible place for the recoil impulse to happen is at the endcap of the suppressor. Well, since the whole point of the suppressor is to slow the gases down and slow the rate at which they exit the suppressor, this results in a much lower recoil impulse because the energy is spread out more over time. So, in addition to decoupling the weight of the suppressor, the booster device also changes where the recoil impulse actually happens. It's kind of like... punching someone hard in the chest compared to pushing on their chest kind of hard over a period of time but using the same amount of energy. The punch is going to hurt (lot of energy in an instant) while the push is not bad at all (same energy but over long time).

What is the set screw used for at the end?

Great video! Consider getting a microphone. Seriously, I've damaged my hearing (well technically another guy damaged it with a hand grenade, but still) and it was difficult to hear your explanation. Regards

We have improved our videography somewhat since we posted this video, the audio is quite terrible, but the video is pretty good info, so we left it up. This is what happens when people that know nothing about making videos, make a video. :D Thanks!!!

Can anyone explain why some NDs have alot of venting along the spring and piston area and some NDs have no holes or anything.

When would you use a piston vs a straight thread mount?
@libertycansdotnet4 жыл бұрын
Piston assembly is used on most centerfire handguns and the rest use the fixed mounts.

What’s the maximum weight, weight of the suppressor) that a recoil booster will make the gun reliable with normal ammo say 99/100 Times?

We have found that a silencer of 12 to 15 ounces in weight is about the heaviest a silencer can be and still operate most firearms with a booster. With the weight being closer to the 12 ounce area being the best for most typical types of pistols out there. Lighter is always better though, so your choice of materials should include titanium and aluminum whenever possible to keep weight down. There are a lot of misconceptions about aluminum and it gets a bad rap. It is actually a great material for silencer parts so if you are building a Form 1 silencer yourself, you should consider using 7075 aluminum as it is strong and light. This is the main reason it is used in airplanes...just sayin'

Good vid. So it is like a decoupler, that works on inertia....neat. Recoil booster my butt
@libertycansdotnet7 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is exactly what it is. a linear DECOUPLER. Thank you for taking the time to watch our video.

You aren't seeing half the booster, and it is a muzzle booster by design. The internals of the suppressor will make a blast chamber very close to the tines on the "piston" when it's threaded all the way in. The small volume right at the outlet of the barrel/moving piston is like a blast chamber, expanding as the spring is compressed. The recoil of the gun alone is not enough to compress the spring, it'll function exactly as a fixed suppressor, no cycle. That is a very heavy spring, it's hard to move it an 1/8" by hand to clock it. That's where the "booster" movable expansion chamber comes into play, it actually launches the suppressor off the end of the barrel, negating it's weight and the resistance of the spring with expanding gases. Of course the spring is there to dampen the whole launching off the end thing. Just my .02, it won't function if the volume of the expansion chamber is not correct.
