Gotta love getting the history from the ones who made it. So much knowledge is being ignored or lost because the people who were there aren't documenting it. Thanks for documenting your time with Bill, it needed to be seen.

My last drag car was a 1972 340 Cuda with line locks and a 3700 rpm stall. Trans brakes did not exist or were not used in those days, and for sure two step was not in the vocabulary! In those days everything on the Dart was either Direct Connection, PAW, or Year One. The car ran 6.80's in the 1/8 with no tubs! That was actually fast in those days! I ran 390 gears with Mossier axles and bearings in a very rare A body 8-3/4 rear, set up by a friend that ran a 1968 Camaro in ET1 class with a bow tie motor with three nitrous kits

Hello Hello From Canada!!! Thank you for sharing your time with such a legendary driver. Amazing people like him are historic treasures who have incredible stories and knowledge of what got racing where it is today. I would watch as many episodes as you could make, if you could get the Limelight car to restore as a project. The suckiest part of life is that we are loosing more and more legends like him all the time. By featuring Wild Bill, you will help each person that watches this episode, to appreciate him now and keep his memory going for my kids to watch in the future. I hope you and all those near or dear to you, stay safe, stay healthy and stay as happy as possible doing everything in life. 🤘😁👍

I had a 426 Nascar engine that I drag raced years ago. When I got it it, it had plugs that had the ground strap coming in from the side. It looked like they drilled a hole in the plug at the end of the threads and pressed in a round ground strap.

Great interview, so many good things said hard working racers can always find common ground. Love all the Detroit strips, dad used to run at Detroit Dragway. Dunno if indexing plugs on a Hemi is a thing but maybe, needs some plumbers putty. All the best, great ride. Love that the old man respects your stuff, like a Volkswagen in a Mercedes dealership. Now there's a t shirt for the car. Plymouth and 2.0 on the front and the Scotsman quote on the back.

My cousin had what I would call the first pro street car back in the late 60s early 70s in New Orleans it was a 58 chevy with a altered wheel base the rearend was moved forward and the motor was set way back it had a cage in it and was powered by a 409 cubic inch at one time the car was chevy orange with green window tint it was called jungle book with a pic of a Lil boy playing bongos on the quarter panel very cool street car.

Works on a wedge head because the plug comes in from the side on an angle but a hemi is in the center so the only way to gain clearance is spacers.

No one "indexed" plugs to keep away from contact !!! Plugs were indexed towards intake valve...for flame travel. The issue IS ...with his engine builder ! The "Compression Height" on the piston is WRONG! I don't know what he has for a rotating assembly, but... "IF".. Hes using Aluminum rods, stretch..."could".. be his issue.
@edw102472
@edw102472 Жыл бұрын
@@SeymourBalz yes plugs are also indexed to gain clearance for the piston and electrode but that won't work on a hemi.
@SeymourBalz
@SeymourBalz Жыл бұрын
@@edw102472 NO...they're not! The "indexing" word refers to its "angle" it's reference, if you will...to the best flame travel. One should be able to "index" at ANY angle WITH OUT piston contact...PERIOD! The piston compression height is WRONG !! Like I previously stated if aluminum rods are not in use, block could have been decked....obviously lowering heads, causing contact. On a lowered deck height, the piston "deck height" needs rechecked....then pistons with correct compression height installed. I'll try making it simple . Look up the word: "Index" in the dictionary.
