I just looked at the schedule, and they may only have 5 wins by the end of January. It's as if the sports gods themselves required a blood sacrifice for the lions ascent into greatness.

I think you need to include the last decade of Detroit sports in there to really show how much sacrifice was needed to prop the Lions up lol. I’ve always said Detroit sports has always had an exchange for greatness. 2008 was 0-16 Lions for Wings Championship. 2004 was 43-119 Tigers for Pistons Championship. 97 and 98 was Barry retiring for a Wings title. So on and so forth.

I feel for Detroit fans because the year yall get the #1 Pick after all those seasons of losing you guys get Cade lol he's a good player but with the lack of FA Detroit needs a bonifide generational talent like Wemby,Zion,Chet,Anthony Edward's players like that. And this draft you guys will probably end up with the #1 pick in a weak draft lol and then next year will still be bad and end up with the 5th pick instead of #1-3 in a 3 superstar player draft 😂

@@anthonyyamz5381 if you're measuring a young team by wins and losses then I'll completely disregard any opinion about basketball you'll ever have I'd much rather watch a 2-14 team with talent than a 35 win team going nowhere. That's why young teams rank higher on League Pass rankings than teams like Chicago. The Pistons have been in every game. They just can't execute in the fourth quarter. Which is what you'd expect from the youngest team in the NBA. But for casual NBA fans I get it. It is about wins and losses because they can only see the results and not the process. A casual fan can't appreciate Ausar Thompson's screen navigation or his timing on cuts or how Jalen Duren is a half a step higher in his drop and why that matters. I'm an NBA diehard though. The kind of person who watches New Orleans and Minnesota to see Herb Jones and Jaden McDaniels as much as Zion and Ant. I like watching young players as much as watching the very best players. Losing games is still fine for now. It's just better draft odds. I always saw us as a bottom 3 team in the east this year anyway.

Agreed that its been bad, but these other teams all had players to trade and get draft picks… We were beyond deep hole! But the 2020 draft were atrocious… and the love for the “high worker beef stew” its pathetic! The guy has no ofensive game and lack the atleticism to be a decent 4
@LogicOverEmotion
@LogicOverEmotion 7 ай бұрын
@@matheusnavesborges2720dude…I swear you’re spot on. I absolutely cannot STAND this city’s love affair with Beef Stew. Forgive me for this long rant but I have to get it off my chest: Stew is at BEST a backup small ball 5 who plays spot minutes. At least in that role he could actually provide SOME value. He could get physical with opposing reserves, stretch the floor a bit, and spark the unit with his effort and “antics” (for lack of a better term). But there isn’t a single team in the league that would start him even with a gun to their head. When matched up against opposing starters all his weaknesses are magnified tenfold. He can’t create his own shot, has no post game, cannot dribble with any semblance of competence, can’t set a screen properly (which is why despite being a descent 3P shooter he’s NEVER utilized in the pick and roll), and sorely lacks the athleticism to be a rim runner or a lob threat like Duren. The only thing he offers on offense is the ability to make a wide open 3, and even his impact in that aspect is severely crippled because he cannot put the ball on the floor when defenses close out on him. He just shovels it off to his nearest teammate which immediately stagnates the offense and kills whatever semblance of competent spacing his shooting would theoretically create. And he’s also a below average defender. In sprite of his “hustle”, he’s averaging less than one “stock” (steals + blocks) and ranks SEVENTH on the Pistons in defensive rating. He’s far too undersized to guard opposing bigs and doesn’t have the leaping ability, coordination or athleticism to consistently disrupt shots around the basket. And conversely, he lacks the lateral quickness to keep in front of opposing wings and most modern PFs for that matter. He flat out isn’t remotely good enough on either end of the floor to be a starter in this league. Same goes for Killian Hayes, whose ceiling is a backup PG given his historically poor shooting efficiency and inability to get by anyone with his dribble drive, which severely hinders his ability to ever be a consistently effective playmaker in this league. The Pistons have had THREE years to evaluate these guys yet both of them have somehow already started double digit games in year FOUR of a rebuild and we’re not even at the 1/4 mark. The fact these two were their primary options at such critical positions shows you the level of ineptitude permeating throughout the entire organization. When you try to make bench players into franchise cornerstones, THESE are the results you get.

This has always been a REBUILD. Just becuz the process was termed Restore, don't make it true. Nice Marketing/P.R. ploy! The last time Restore was used was by the Lions, & their slogan, Restore the Roar LOL I had preseason belief this team could challenge for a play-in spot. The East is top heavy, but to make a run at a 9-10 spot was possible. Yeah the injuries have done us no favors, but we are doing ourselves no favors looking where other teams are in their rebuild compared to us. The gap doesn't look big on paper, but the evidence is what we put between the lines. As a lifelong Pistons fan, hoping they can turn this around & get Cade some help, not quick but in a hurry. JMO
@michaelahurt
@michaelahurt 7 ай бұрын
To be fair that's primarily because Cade missed all of last year so our four best players are three second year guys and a rookie. And if we'd gotten Wemby I doubt you'd be saying that. Weaver only missed on one pick (Killian). Unfortunately, Cade just hasn't been anywhere close to what we'd all like. If you want to say he should have signed FVV or traded for CP to take some pressure off Cade, the way CP did for Shai and Booker when they were his age, that's fine. Although I think that's what Monte was intended to be. He's just been injured. If you took FVV and Brooks away from Houston like we've lost Morris and Bogdanovic they would still be be bad too. SGA is the kind of star Cade was supposed to be. He's also 25 not 22. And Orlando -- yeah I don't think they are actually this good. Their offense isn't very good and I think the defense is smoke and mirrors. It's not like Paolo and Franz are balling out. The difference between their defense and Detroit's is 1) FT luck (73.5% for Magic opponents on 27.8 attempts (2nd most) and 82.1% for Detroit's) and 2) turnovers forced (17.2; 1st vs 11.9; 29th) even though Detroit is getting more steals (9.4 vs 8.4) so I'm not sure how much of that is just luck.

@@michaelahurt You think its luck that Orlando is playing well so far this season? You believe that Houston is also playing better just because they signed FVV & Dillon Brooks? The hiring of Ime Udoka has nothing to do with their improved play? Our players & coaches have to be better. I have questions with some of Monty's lineups/rotations, but have to agree with him in can't use injuries & youth of team as excuse. There are areas we have to be better in to start seeing improvement & more wins.

I'm not saying it would make the Pistons by itself a decent team but Cade+Aussar+some good roleplayers+a coach deciding to actually care and expect stuff from the players would make this team 5x better imo.
