Hey everyone! In this video I show how to cook a beer can chicken. One thing I need to note is if you’re gonna be using a beer can holder like I used in the video a tall boy can doesn’t work cause the chicken sits a little bit to high and sticks up out of the grill not letting you close the lid, so use a regular sized can. If not using the holder the tall boy can should work great for you if that’s what you have to use. Hope this helps everyone out. Hit the subscribe to see more content coming soon.

@@paulsq_ Thanks for responding. Does it stop your grill from heating up properly?
@paulsq_
@paulsq_ 4 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t stop the grill from heating up properly at all. It doesn’t give off any extra heat either. It just save you time from having to scrape and clean the deflector plate when you go to clean out the ash from the fire pot.

Hey Paul! Chicken came out great I see. How long did you have it cooking for at 150 and at 350?
@paulsq_
@paulsq_ 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Mario! I had it cook for about an hour at 250 then the last half hour at 350 to crisp up the skin. Total cook time on this one was hour and a half. You want an internal temp of 165 in the thighs. So cook time may very depending on size of the bird. I like cooking my chickens to about 100-110 degrees before I raise the temp up to crisp the skin and finish the cooking.

do you have foil under your grates?

Yes I do. I foil over the deflector plate/ heat shield just so it makes for easier cleanup after the cook.

If you’re lookin, you’re not cookin. Get that lid closed! How long did it take to recover when you put the chicken on? Y’all are cooking in the snow...
@paulsq_
@paulsq_ 4 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t take long to recover in temp. I open the lid a lot and it stays open longer then I’d like but to make these videos you have to learn how to adjust to that as people wouldn’t be interested in watching if you just show putting a piece of meat on and never lifting the lid to check the progress until time to pull the meat off. Cooking in the snow is not making any big difference from cooking in the sunny summer months.
