Just a correction. The underside of the hood is what secretes the nectar that attracts the insects. This nectar leads down to a point that is so slippery that no insect can hold onto and they slip and fall down into the digestive enzymes. You can try the nectar by taking some off the hood. It’s actually super sweet

I have been a fan of the Pitcher and I legally (my story) obtained several and gave them to my Mother who loved her garden. She was so proud of the many plants that were offspring and the colony was really impressive contrasting her other plants. Every now and then they would grow a huge flower and it was beautiful to attract the insects.. The mosquito population was knocked down and finally it eventually died but I will always think of my momma whenever I think about the pitcher. I've always been under the impression they were endangered and protected but it may be a different species.

Oow. Pitcher plants are awesome. Have you ever heard of a Rafflesia, or a corpse flower? There quite cool! And Rafflesias are so rare.

Excellent presentation. Thank you, Jack. I really like the shots you got of the pitcher plants. I think I know that location. It's beautiful. There is so much biological diversity in that area, it's truly amazing. Have a great day!

I had no idea that pitcher plants grew in such huge stands! Very cool!

They do produce offspring and they are all different but they are the same. Ex same colors but ones taller and the other is fat. Color's are never the same, close but really cool plants. I think a bog is the ideal place for the pitcher and the size of colony is determined by the amount of protein it consumes. I think the video is a place that's been aided by the large numbers.

Thanks Jack, wonderful content as always. Hope this isn't a weird question to you, but i've been wondering what your dayjob is? You seem like a professional wildlife/animal presenter to me. Are you?

Trying to get there 😵💫 I actually run my own business selling feeder insects, captive poison dart frogs, and custom enclosure I build and maintenance. Hoping to get Jack’s World of Wildlife paying for itself soon, and hopefully paying me in the future. I’ve been working it full time with my flexible work schedule, but it’s not making full time money yet :/

This was filmed just south of the Houston area if memory serves

The inside walls of the pitcher plants have a coating that makes them super slippery as well so insects can't climb out.

That is not the place you announce the location of something that is rare and endangered. People will loot the plants even though it's not a rare thing to see dig marks. I'm sure if you send him a personal message he would gladly share with you and I would too But not killing nature's beauty
