I think Pitman takes time but it was best. Because gregg strokes are bigger than Pitman strokes.

I can write Gregg. You don't have to write the T, D, M, N, L B, V, etc. strokes a lot longer than Pitman if you don't want to; a lot of people write the short consonants a lot shorter, so the long ones don't come out a lot longer than a B or a D in Pitman. I grew up in Britain in the 80s when Pitman was the only shorthand you saw. I only learned Gregg because my Grandmother happened to know it and sent me the book. The huge advantage of Gregg to me is that you can write in ordinary pen. Sometimes I've needed shorthand unexpectedly, and I never had a pencil in an emergency! Only pen. I have heard that Pitman's shorthand is still very popular in India. I know Pitman is really fast. From what I've heard of the 2 systems they seem equally fast. Both were used by court reporters for many years at speeds exceeding 240 words per minute in the era when no electronic recording devices were available.

Our institutions teach only Pitman Shorthand and in colleges also there is only Pitman Shorthand. Exams and speed are as follows: Junior: 80 wpm + theory(rules) Intermediate: 100 wpm Senior: 120 wpm + theory(rules) + condensation

4 to 5 months. It depends on your practice. It does not matters how much time you practice. It matters that how much did you learn from that. Practice with concentration. You can achieve 100 wpm as soon as possible. All the best 👍
