It's tough for me to gauge if I think The Penguins will make the playoffs I will need about a month of watching this team to see if I think they can make a playoff spot, but I do agree with you Hunter, I think they'll be in the conversation but I'll be able to tell by November if I think this team has it or not. I will say The Penguins probably I think play in the toughest division in hockey. If I had to rank the divisions from strongest to weakest I would put Metro, Central, Atlantic, and Pacific. The Metro is getting better, so The Penguins need to start strong. You cannot make the playoffs in October, but you can certainly put yourself in a hole and miss them with a bad start.

There are 7 playoffs spots in the east that are allocated already. They are the Leafs, the Bolts, the Panthers, the Bruins, the Devils, the Rangers and the Canes to lose. And that sure can happen. But barring that, there's one spot left, and Wings, the Sens, the Islanders, the Caps, the Sabres (tho they looked bad in the double vs the Devils), even the Habs, that will be giving the Pens a run for it. I think the Pens have a good chance, but it's worse than a coin toss.

I think this team is a lot better beside in the net and graves. I think they will make the playoffs..

The major question mark for me is LD. After Petterson we have 2 guys on the decline and our plan is to hope they have bouce back years. If we trade Petterson at the deadline we may have the worst LD in the league

This years penguins are deeper on paper. They have center depth to survive a couple weeks if sid or geno get short term injuries. If letang or karlsson get hurt, they don't have much to replace them. Not many quality right shot dmen in wbs. I think they could finish 3rd in metro if everything goes right. Most likely 5th though. I think the caps will edge them out for 4th. New Jersey wins the metro followed by Rangers, canes and caps. As far as stanley cup winner, dallas was close last year and think they get over the hump and win the cup
