Ratchets are one thing that every mechanic or DIY'er needs in their toolbox.
Some ratchets are shorter while others are longer and these give you a lot more leverage....
Resulting in a lot more torque! So which one is the strongest 1/4" ratchet??

Proves all of the ratchets tested are stronger than a reasonable user would ever need. So any one of them is a good tool for the money.

I have seen multiple SnapOn 1/4” ratchets fail around 65 foot lbs. I just started buying more duralast products. I have Pittsburgh Pro, Tekton, Duralast, Carlyle, Wright, Husky, Kobalt, Gearwrench and SnapOn ratchets that I use almost every day. I honestly can not tell any quality difference in feel or function that the SnapOn has versus all the other ratchets. My two most used ratchets are Tekton and Husky, and I really put them to the test salvaging parts off of 30-40 year old cars and they have never missed a beat. Another stand out ratchet I have is the Wright 3430 and that tool is like a piece of jewelry. Around $35 on Amazon and it has paid for itself 100X already. If you buy one to review and don’t fall in love with it, I will buy it from you and pay the shipping. Great video. Thank you.

I have the Duralast 3/8" drive in the 1/4 body. Just the one item in my box like that. Probably can't yet justify adding a backup but I'll put it on the list of items for the future.

The one thing I’ve seen from AVE that seems believable is that snap on has much shallower engagement whereas all the other sockets have the head buried much deeper before you can drive it. I’d love to see a photo of your favorites lined up with a caliper or ruler showing the depth differences if you’re ever bored

How do you determine “Taiwan style”? Also what’s the current consensus? What’s the best bang for your buck ? Also what’s the best socket sets that come with 6 & 12 etc. and lastly what’s the best box end/ratcheting wrench for the cost? Including flex heads etc. I need to find a automotive tool cheat sheet of all the stuff you could need and why

No surprise that a 36 tooth ratchet held up slightly better than the 72 tooth ratchets, but which is easier to use? The 72. So maybe do a fair comparison - with the new Duralast 72 tooth you mention ;)

Breaker bars are designed to loosen tight and frozen fasteners. Ratchets are designed to reach fasteners in spaces inaccessible to a box end wrench or to avoid use of a wrench, which must be removed with each turn, speed. All of these torque test show is a) how to abuse a tool, contrary to the manufacturer's specifications and b) how economical those tools are as the narrators can afford to trash the tool. If the wrenches were $500, none of these side shows would occur. Folks, a person interested in the load limit and proper use for the tool can ask the manufacturer.

The Pittsburgh Pro is the only dual pawl ratchet of the bunch, which means the pawls are not as hefty so they won't hold up to the torque of the single pawl ratchets. The older Duralast ratchets has larger teeth and a much lower teeth count, so it will obviously hold up to more torque than the rest of the higher teeth ratchets. Nevertheless, if you are doing finer work and want very low backdrag with a smooth operation, the Pittsburgh Pro win out in that front.

ClientGraphics so the ones that are good are old? When were they discontinued ? Do they have a name? I saw a test of I think a husky or Kobalt 144 tooth ratchet that basically ....no it was tekton that’s right, and it went to 37, 370,373.373 repeating centimeter pounds. I wish I knew the model but would also like to see it re-tested

It's funny that the Quinn held up longer because I've compared both at the store and you can tell that the regular Pittsburgh (green version) and the Quinn are identical except for the color and name. The guts inside must be a tougher design than the Pro.
@ClientGraphics
@ClientGraphics 5 жыл бұрын
I tore it apart and the Quinn is around 1/8" thicker in profile with pawls and engagement surface being 2x larger resulting in more holding force.
@ClientGraphics
@ClientGraphics 5 жыл бұрын
I couldn't fit that into the video, but yah the Pittsburgh Pro (green version #32303) did look identical to the Quinn except for the color, branding, socket stamping, but the price difference gap of 20% was quite large $18.99 vs Quinn $22.99. Now I did use the Quinn coupon to bring the set to $17.99 I could have used a 20% off on the other bringing the $18.99 down to $15.19 which is still cheaper, the Quinn is more anyway you look at it. What can I say, I actually liked the blue and gray better😀

Yeah ! I'm still using my 20-30-40 year old shit ratchets, brand name doesn't really matter, if the fastneners needs more + or - torque, I' go to a larger drive and socket , I find that a lot of things just need a new owner.

Chris do you have a printing/graphics related business? Can I ask what exactly? My father was a printer since he was a teenager, he took over his stepfathers business after he passed and worked his ass off and built it up between 1967 and 1996~ In 1992 he bought a half million dollar Heidelberg Press.... You know what, why don’t I shut up before you say you don’t have any idea what I’m talking about and client graphics is your sticker company or something 😂

I agree, I have the Pittsburgh Pro 1/4 drive ratchet and have been really impressed by its performance for HB Pittsburgh tools. They have come a long way in the quality department. To be honest, though, I have never measured the torque I have put on it but I have had to seriously crank on it to get some stubborn fasteners loose and it did very well. I think the ratchet he had might have been a fluke. I even took my Pittsburgh Pro apart when I first bought it to lube the gears and found they actually used legit grease and coated all the gears and the direction switch from the factory.
