Pittsburgh's Heart Still Beats Catholic - SSPX Renovates Historic St James

sspx.org/ - In this video, we tell a real-life story illustrating how Catholic Tradition is the only possible future for the Catholic Church. The story takes place in Pittsburgh so a brief history is given of the Catholic Church in the Steel City. Sadly, the diocese of Pittsburgh has seen many church closings and parish mergers in her recent years. One such church that was closed in 2004 was St. James Catholic Church in the West End.
The story is about how St. James was brought back to life in 2015. Its resurrection was only possible through Catholics who have remained faithful to the Church’s Tradition. The video also gives a brief description of the Priestly Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX) which has championed Catholic Tradition worldwide and especially in Pittsburgh through the restoration of St. James's Church.
We hope to open the eyes of all Catholics to the reality of the situation in the Catholic Church and give them hope through this story. The video is especially intended for all Catholic individuals and families in Pittsburgh who want to remain faithful and perhaps are struggling to do so in their current parish. The video is also intended for those who have abandoned the Catholic Church, not knowing that Tradition is still alive in Pittsburgh or elsewhere in the world.
Above all, it is a call to arms for all Catholics, especially in Pittsburgh, to stop the revolution that is taking place in the Church’s liturgy, doctrine, morals, and cultural life. This alone is the goal of the SSPX and St. James's Church. We hope that many more souls will be a part of it and join us in this work.

Bravo SSPX. I was raised Catholic, and fortunately, I became an altar boy in early 1964, and was able to experience the full experience of the traditional Tridentine latin mass before all the changes started, and ultimately when the beautiful interior of our church was totally destroyed in 1969 to go along with the Vatican II changes. And now 50 years later, we look around and wonder if Vatican II was possibly in error?

What an amazing video. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. The church my grandmother went to. My parents grew up in and were married in, my older brother grew up in and was an altar boy, and the church I went to growing up (I'm now 65) was the first church in Johnstown, Pa. to be closed....( St. Joseph's parish.) The church was stripped of everything. Including the lights hanging from the ceiling. The building is now being used as an auction hall. Watching this video brought back alot of wonderful memories for me. Thank you for making this wonderful video. I hope many people watch it and can associate with it. Today it was announced that the diocese of Pittsburgh will consolidate 61 parishes into 15 parishes. That is staggering and thoroughly depressing. And we can chalk that up to Vatican II. Canon 212 on youtube today mentioned this consolidation. I walked past a SSPX church for almost 2 years when I lived in Europe because I was drinking the non-full communion Kool-Aid. Fortunately, I went in one day. I saw total reverence inside. I saw Rosaries and miraculous medals. I saw confession during Mass. The SSPX has the courage to go against the modernist council of Vatican II, a pastoral not a dogmatic council. My sons were confirmed in an SSPX chapel. The SSPX does so much good for the Catholic Church.

I attended until a few years ago, regularly at the Novus Ordo Masses. For friendships I had to attend first communions and deceased's mass and with all respect and deep pain, I can assure you that I do not see in the assistants, nor in the way the ceremonies are developed, the presence of God. I do not see consciousness in children who have received the mystical body of Christ ... they have no idea. The behavior of the people is increasingly disrespectful. Converging almost like in a square, the cell phones sound, nothing has transcendence. They do not believe in the presence of God, nor eternal life. Thank God, I have come by Divine Providence to The Society St. Pius X and I have fallen in love with the Faith with which I grew up and I see the beauty and grace of God that is present in the silence, in that deep and authentic recollection of the faithful and the priest who, during the consecration, becomes High Priest, is the royalty represented by that man, as Christ installed with the Apostles. He says the words that really convert, the same Christ who died on the Cross and rose again, enter into that visible form of bread and produce the prodigious miracle of Transubstantiation. The bread that becomes the Blood and Body of Jesus Christ. Some prefer to believe that the changes of the Council V.II 50 years ago, has more value than the hundreds of years of history of the Church's tradition. Why what was considered good and valid for centuries and accepted and ratified by all Popes and councils ... today wouldn't be valid? Why if the truth of Christ that doesn't change, must now be adequate to the tastes and desires of men? Isn't prideful to expect God adapt to the will of men and not in reverse?

'Our future is in our past' truer words have never been spoken. I am from India and I remember the years before the Vatican II council, and the Mass of the ages, the glorious chants, used to be in the choir; the heavenly perfume of the incense, the bells et al. The shock of a church gone wrong is too much to bear, it crept up and changed out beloved church into something unrecognizable, gone were the beautiful Italian statues, all painted over to look modern, Our Blessed Mother suddenly sported mascara, the beautiful robes covered over with cheap saris, in keeping with the culture, inculturation they called it. How I pray for the day when my parish church is taken over by the SSPX again. Where have all the 'Indians' catholic priests gone? I hope they are not serving in the West where the trad faith already exist, but return home to claim the souls so dear to God. I was so lucky to have a day retreat preached by Fr Stechlin in Goa in 2015 i think it was, and became a knight of the Immaculata with my sons on the same day. God never forgets His children, it is true. May I live to see my children go regularly to a traditional Mass by Holy priests of the SSPX. God bless you all. Any takers??? Contact me.

I grew up in the west end, St. James was "our church" my mother was a war bride from Ireland so the church was the center of our lives. We lived on Lovelace St. I was so sad to hear of its closing but now am so happy to know it is back! God Bless all, wish I could come home to hear mass once again at St. James. The Popes since John Paul II have participated in religious services of non-Christians (and even the Protestants!). It makes me sad to see that SSPX isn't in full communion with the Holy See. If I were the Pope, I would do everything within my power to bring them back to the church. I would allow them to function as a institute for apostolic life. Just look at the FSSP! SSPX, please come back!

I think the problem is the changes established by the Vat II. It not only changed the Traditional Mass but also the traditioanl rites for sacraments and that's a big obstacle to come together. SO far SSPX has shown to the world that Catholic Tradition is the only way to keep the catholics closed to God.
