I think they are dumb for them not giving Najee his 5th year option for only $6.79 million…..it locks him up for another year for a very cheap price under $7 million and he deserves the money he has been a 1000 yard rusher multiple times behind a shittey line…..behind this new line he might go for 1400 and Warren might go for 1200 on the ground

Warren isnt better. He broke off a couple big runs because of his small stature. It is easier for him to hide. Najee had two or three 1000 yard seasons behind a shitty offensive line. Lets wait and see how he does behind a better offensive line.e@hiimbob2121

im honestly not sure. think about it, an extension woulda only been to get him cheaper over a few years as opposed to what he woulda been guaranteed for the 5th year option, and Najee has been seen supporting other backs tryin to 'get paid what they deserve' type thing. so i think he is going to want to test free agency before ever signing back with us. just my opinion but we shall see. the best thing about this, since i disagree with not picking it up, is that Najee is going to feed! i already knew he would with our revamped Oline but now with a chip on his shoulder and running for his next contract on top of it. i truly think we lost him because of it. to keep him we would have to pay more than what the 5th yr option woulda been. and i dont see that happening because Warren is going to feed as well and we'll be good with him and a back in that 5th yrs draft.

Steelers are building everything around him and Jaylen. Only the outsiders are pitting our two backs against each other. The organization wants both to succeed and both to last. I wish folk would stop projecting OTHER running backs’ issues on Najee. Jerome Bettis lasted 13 years with ALL THAT ABUSE his body took. Najee is in a better place physically than the Bus because he’s not being asked to be the bell cow any more. People act like the Steelers org is out to screw their players. Not giving the 5th-year option is BETTER for Najee. He gets to earn his second contract earlier. He’s durable. He’ll prove it. And now he has a line and a proven play caller. The front office isn’t trying to use Najee and lose him. He will perform, and they will be happy to pay him more.

It is a dumb conversation because Najee will be here. The media has portrayed the 5th-year option like it’s a vote of confidence or no confidence. It is literally an option… gives the team an EXTRA year to make a decision on a player without that player being free to go elsewhere. The Steelers don’t need an extra year. All the real issues have been dealt with - OC, O-line, experienced QB. So they don’t need an extra year to decide. They can decide on the first 4 years whether to offer a multi-year extension. I’m confident Najee will perform this year and the Steelers will offer him (and Jaylen) offers that will make them both want to stay.

And it’s hard to pay him when the undrafted guy has taken a significant portion of your touches. If I look at Kahn’s drafts…I’m guessing he feels like he’s building a line that most backs could be successful behind. And Najee isn’t an impact/game-changer RB. People, listen to master moats, he is telling you how it works.. he should know better than any non player. We can’t keep believing that the players are great and we should treat them better. This from the money standpoint is a business, the Steelers or any team should not be expected to pay more than a player is worth. Nor should a player be expected to sign for less than he’s worth. Feeling’s are not important here..

Tomlins Azz. There saying Najee may be a problem. He said at the seasons' end that the team needs discipline. He's right, and Tomlins Azz didn't like that. Now he's a problem. I say this all the time. The problem is TOMLIN!!! WE WILL NEVER WIN WITH TOMLIN.. HE'S DONE!!!!

I never believed they would sign Najee because they have Warren and they'll just draft somebody else to fill in Najee spot they might try to do an extension with him whether he takes it or not.
