Guys, I have this and the tool is a decent design, but wrap double sided friction tape (or 60G sand paper) around each prong, it will grip better ( or if you really want grip, file teeth or grooves in each prong where it touchs the filter). Dremel with cut off wheel works well.

I use a latex glove around the filter snd it helps too

Changed the oil on a 2015 honda civic recently. The oil filter wasn't on super tight after all, but is located on the underside of the engine and surrounded by other components so hard to get to. Tried an oil filter wrench which just slipped when I applied torque. This filter wrench style got it off very easily. Thanks for the video.

This oil filter gadget is a GEM...I am speaking from personal experiences of just three days ago..I don't think I can tell the full story here do to space restrictions..My car is a Toyota Crown Majesta Super Deluxe and Toyota put the oil filter in a location that makes it impossible to remove without a tool like this as the working room is so very restrictive..Two other people and myself plus a very wide assortment of filter tool and gadgets failed miserably..Out of the blue this item and other appeared on my phone...It fascinated me as it was so compact Long story short I bought it used it and had the filter off in about 3 to 4 minutes....I KID YOU NOT!! IF YOU BUY THIS TOOL AND IT DOESN'T WORK NOTHING WILL... I do not have to wish you good luck....It will work.. I was lying on my back under my car with a huge smile on my face...Two days of work done in 4 minutes....Genius creation!!!

@1JamesHamilton14 жыл бұрын
If your filter is in a recessed area to where you can't grab it from the side the tool is useless. Oh you can remove the filter but this particular tool will not reverse to screw the new filter on, and give it that last 3/4 turn. It's a tool that only does half the job. There are others out there that are reversible, and work both ways so if you buy this type of filter tool you may want look it over closely.

Looks good, ive been using the other pittsburgh version that looks more like pliers. I like the style you showed here. There WILL be a time where you cant get your oil filter off by hand.

It’s a good filter wrench I use it a few times a week and it’s still holding up. I have the older style wrenches that go around the filter and tighten around the perimeter. Yet I want a one size fits all for work.
@doylee4695 жыл бұрын
Bill's Tools actually the pliers style is really easy to use because you dont need any additional tools.. it will fit around any oil filter you may have. Its what most mechanics use too. Check it out sometime, its like 7bucks at the freight lol...im not talking about the strap version either fyi, not a fan of those

When the rubber on the legs wear out just put two or three turns of self fusing rubber tape on. Last forever and not expensive.

Is it easy to use one-handed in tight spaces?
@billstools52445 жыл бұрын
It is since it tightens and grabs the filter as you go to ratchet free the filter
@master64352 жыл бұрын
@GR those work great but suck in tight places for a person needs to support the jaws with free hand while turning ratchet not really a one handed tool not without supporting tool it will just slip and not grip filter

Never shows using it to put it on. Doesn't work in the install direction. Some machines specify a torque amount on filters.
@billstools52445 жыл бұрын
It only can remove the filter I work on lots of different machines with oil filters and as long as hand tight you can’t crush the gasket. If you over tighten anything with a rubber gasket it will leak. It’s why oil on gasket and then hand tighten till you can’t turn it anymore never leaks. You wrench it back on and you can overtighten

I have had filters so tight that I had to drive a screwdriver through it from side to side and turn it like a T handle to get them off. Remember, a little oil on the gasket and and do not overtighten. Put it on by hand til the gasket makes contact, then no more than 3/4 turn is all it it takes.

Every single time you look at a video/review for this type of filter you see tons of idiots complaining it can’t tighten the filter…. 1. You are supposed to HAND TIGHTEN oil filters!!! Hand tight, you don’t use a wrench you just screw it on. 2. How COULD it tighten an oil filter exactly? When you spin it it tightens the jaws…. If you spin it the other way it obviously loosens the jaw. That’s how they grab different filter sizes…. Anyway you only use a wrench to REMOVE a filter!!
@peterlepore2726 Жыл бұрын
had tight your filters thats plenty
