I like the principle however my question is we are encouraged to air tight our homes to be Green and energy conscious however with PIV we are now allowing cold outside air to force out the impure air which we have just heated. To me it is counter productive?

Do we need to calculate volume of needed fresh air (in m3/h), considering the house air volume and occupants (minimum 30m3/h per person plus 50/70m3/h for the kitchen)? And do we need to check if the old air can find the way out in the same volume (m3/h) as a fresh air?

Good explanation but you contradict yourself because towards the beginning you say that houses are virtually air-tight and then later on you say that clean air is forced into the house and bad air out. If houses are virtually airtight, how does the bad air get forced out? If you can give me a good answer then I am sold on the idea.

Hi Shaun, thanks for your comment. Although we are making our homes more air tight with insulation and double glazing etc., no house will be completely air tight. You are right, however that just using PIV might not be the right solution for every property, sometimes we recommend a combination of PIV and moisture tracking extract fans.

You said it yourself....you said' virtually'. Now....'virtually' means 'nearly almost'...see? Also, houses are living things in so much as people come and go. Unless the people enter and exit through walls 'Harry Potter style' then doors have to be opened and closed at some time. When this happens, air is allowed to enter/leave. Simple.

@@gj8153 having a PIV just means your having that constant air change slowly but surely every minute of the day.
