Never understood training like this, it completely disregards the pace of a fight. That cross hand is already pulled back and guarding the head by the time she finishes that pivot. And your training to throw strikes to where the head was when the cross was originally thrown.

Dumb comment. I do this in sparring. And land these counters with a good percentage. First, not everyone will bring their hand all the way back all the time. Even guys who've been training for a long time will get lax sometimes. Second, if they DO bring their cross back to a cover, the body kick is exposed. If they have it lower, the head is exposed for the cross or hook. Third: this is important- NOT EVERY STRIKE NEEDS TO DO DAMAGE, OR EVEN TO LAND! The cross or hook here can be light and actually DESIGNED to hit their covering hand. This gets their hands high so you CAN land the kick! I routinely PURPOSEFULLY hit their covering hand to set up my kicks. Finally, i tend to stuff their cross when i pivot to slow their motion down for when i counter. It works, dude.

@@beta_cygni1950 oooh I see so it works if you're fighting a lazy person or idiot. I'll get right on training to fight unskilled opponents. Btw idk what gym you go to where everyone is flat footed as hell but the proper response to a slipped strike is distance management so all that bs ain't doing you a lick of good against me buddy cause my head, body and all are out of range by the end of your pivot. Enjoy your sparring sessions with those noobs.
