NYPD reacts to criticism over dance team

The NYPD is responding after a performance by its new dance team on PIX11 Morning News went viral on social media.

The backlash is coming from taxpayers who see that they’re financing police who are too fat to effectively do the job they’ve been hired to do.

Those haters have stage fright! I'm a dancer of 26 years, with 11 years of Hip Hop in a group of amazing ladies ranging in age from 20 to early 60s (some of us also take Tap, Ballet, and Jazz!). We get so much love from the audience at our recitals, and our class has grown. These ladies are doing something amazing (ON THEIR OWN TIME, it can't be emphasized enough!), they deserve respect for it!
